About this listen
Bloomsbury presents The Bookseller by Tim Sullivan, read by Finlay Robertson.
SOMEONE'S ABOUT TO TURN THEIR LAST PAGE...
'One of my favourite detectives.' ELLY GRIFFITHS
THE SETTING
The body of a bookseller is discovered, lying in a pool of blood in his Bristol bookshop. Police have one question: how did the man meet such a violent, murderous end in this peaceful place?
THE CONFLICT
DS Cross’s ability to dismiss red herrings is challenged by a worrying development in his personal life. Hopelessly distracted, he needs to rely on those around him in a way he has never been comfortable doing before.
THE MURDER PLOT
It may be a quiet profession, but it’s full of passionate, ambitious characters who know the value of a rare book. Their extensive reading means they also know how to get away with murder.
But is that enough to fool the tenacious DS George Cross?
Perfect for fans of MW Craven, Peter James and Joy Ellis, this is the seventh book in the bestselling series, which can be enjoyed in any order.

Sadly not the best.
I was very disappointed by this book. It wasn’t as gripping as all the previous in the series. I really struggled with it. Sadly I didn’t enjoy it as much as the others in the series.

A masterclass in storytelling!
I pre-ordered this ages ago and was so excited when it dropped into my Audible library. I wasn't disappointed! Tim Sullivan is a first class storyteller and the book is expertly plotted and all the characters are well developed. I became totally immersed in the story and didn't want to stop listening. I love how Tim continues to develop George's character and his changing relationships with the people around him.
The book is nicely narrated by Finlay Robertson.

Great Plot
I enjoyed this book as much as the others.
The two stories running side by side, the murder and Raymond's health problems made storyline more interesting and a bit of relief from the murder.
The Russian characters gave a bit of spice and the intricacies of the rare book world added to enjoyment of the story.
I can't wait for the next in the series.

Big changes in prospect for DS Cross
The persistent characters in the series are as well crafted as any other outstanding detective series. I hope for a TV adaptation. My thoughts for Cross: Rory Kinnear, or maybe Jack Dee?
