About this listen

Anty Boisjoly tackles the strange case of a war hero who visits his old friends on Christmas morning—after being murdered on Christmas Eve.

In The Case of the Ghost of Christmas Morning, Wodehousian clubman, flaneur, idler, and sleuth Anty Boisjoly pits his sardonic wits against another pair of impossible murders. This time, Anty Boisjoly’s Aunty Boisjoly is the only possible suspect when a murder victim stands his old friends a farewell drink at the local, hours after being murdered.

Like The Case of the Canterfell Codicil, The Case of the Ghost of Christmas Morning fits the narrow literary needs of those who feel that Lord Peter Wimsey isn’t frivolous enough or that Blandings Castle could stand a few more baffling murders.

Fun chapter titles

it galloped along at a merry pace, perfectly confusing. Silly names abound as is obligatory in a country murder mystery. Daft fun.

Well read, Jeeves & Wooster style comedy detective story

If you are in the mood for a light hearted, cosy Golden Age style detective story with the type of humour typical of Jeeves & Wooster, then you will enjoy this. The language is full of witty similes, metaphors and personification and characters well drawn by both the author and the narrator. The answer to the plot is much more complicated than I was expecting for something of this tone and I would like to listen to more stories from the same author & narrator.

Perfect!

At several parts of the story I had tears of laughter rolling down my face, I’ve found my new favourite author! Brilliant murder mystery with lots of twists and witty humour. Can’t wait to get the next in the series

Wonderfully Wodehousian.

Anty Boisjoly's antics continue with another hilarious mystery full of twists and turns, this time while celebrating Christmas at Aunty Boisjoly's. Light, relaxing and wonderfully Wodehousian.

Jeeves and Wooster meets Agatha Christie

A very clever plot and lots of laughs along the way. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to listening to the next. The narrator is top notch!

Good fun

This is the second book in the series and is as enjoyable as the first. The story romps along and our detective Antony remains excellent company. The mysteries are nicely convoluted and the reading draws you into the fun.

Very amusing

I enjoyed this, and found it very amusing, but I was continually distracted by Americanisms. I didn't notice this with the first volume. I wondered at first whether Anty was trying to sound American (but why?), and then wondered if the text had been edited for an American audience - or is the author an American, and if so why not get the text checked by someone English?
