About this listen
The worst, and yet best, of all house parties. Lord Cummings is throwing a house party at Chester, his country seat. Miss Chastity Cummings acts as her brother’s hostess, and she has her hands full. There are always family squabbles, but who could have expected a house break-in, intrigue, and a second chance at love?

A very well written story
This book has made me realise what an under rated author Gayle Buck is. This could have passed for a Nancy Mitford or Georgette Heyer (her mystery series especially). There were very well thought out characters interacting at a house party in several different plot lines. They all come neatly and surprisingly together at the end. I had to listen closely to the dialogue and names of characters just as I do with Mitford and Heyer. I can’t believe how similar the writing is but in an original story. The narrator is one of my favourites and is easy on the ear. I don’t know how she can slip from one accent to another so quickly and seamlessly! Very highly recommended.
