Summary
An incredible new psychological crime thriller from the Top Ten Sunday Times bestselling author
A kidnap…
Matt Westbrook only turned his back for a moment. But when he looks around, his car – with his three young children inside – has vanished.
A ransom…
Panicked, Matt assumes a car thief has got more than he bargained for, but then he starts to receive text messages: This is a kidnap. If you want to see your children again, you will exchange them for your wife.
A choice…
Matt and his wife Annabelle are horrified. They can’t involve the police, or their children will be killed. Which means they have to choose: Annabelle, or their children. Either option is unthinkable. But one is inevitable. And they have only hours to make their decision…

Critic reviews
"Relentlessly fast paced, a compelling plot and anxiety inducing finale. A cracking read." (John Marrs, best-selling author of The One)
"Opens with a nightmare scenario and races to a gripping, horribly tense ending – I think I actually stopped breathing several times. Loved it!" (Jackie Kabler, author of The Perfect Couple)

Far fetched but entertaining
Gripping and I liked the timeline anecdotes so you could grasp the couple’s history.
The police come across as absolutely useless though. No wonder they didn’t tell them. The story would have panned out the same without them being in it so they were almost pointless.
I’m happy with far fetched but this was a little extreme!

Good story but...
The overuse of " he said she said " when it was obvious who was speaking drove me insane ... once you hear it you can't unhear it almost gave up the book.

Simple
A very easy and simple read. At times it feels this writer is a complete beginner with a very basic grasp of novel writing.
Simple story line with nothing special. Would try another one for comparison.

Good read
It plodded along in bits but was an odd enough story to keep me captivated. Lots of exciting incidents throughout. Highly readable

Best Book I have listened to for a while
I am always ending up disappointed by the books I choose and end up having to return them. But I really enjoyed this one.
Great storyline and characters and I liked the way it went back into the characters pasts without being confusing.
Easy to follow, characters easy to identify.
I do agree with another review I read which referred to the narrator saying 'he said, she said' after every sentence even though it was easy enough to know who had said what, but I did my best to ignore it, even though at times once you heard it, it was hard to ignore and it seemed thats all I could hear, but I didn't want to let it ruin the story, so I didnt.

Reasonable story, overuse of who said what.
It was a good story but honestly the 'he said' 'she said' 'Winn said' etc was so unnecessary and distracting.

Disappointed
I found this storyline very predictable I had even guessed the culprit fairly early. The police were made to look like bumbling idiots and I felt overall that the whole thing was rushed.
Very disappointing and I will be returning it.
