Critic reviews
"Mina's detached but unsentimental view of man's inhumanity to man...never flinches, and her deadpan style serves her purpose well." ( Guardian)

Bad Readers
Denise Mina is a good writer but is badly let down by the reader of this book. Katy Anderson puts her inflections in the wrong places, pronounces corridor as corri-door and generally irritates the listener with a reading that is not fluid and seamless. I will not buy any books read by Katy Anderson.

Superb narration!
Katy Anderson really brings the story alive, totally immersive, and loved the feisty heroine, Paddy

Good story marred by the narration
I down-loaded this book on the strength of a previous Denise Mina book I'd listened to. It's a good story but spoiled for me by the narrator. I see that another listener has commented on this. I wish I'd read her review and not down-loaded solely on the strength of the author! I found it difficult to concentrate on the story at first as I was mesmerized by the extraordinary reading style of the narrator: it wasn't the Glasgow accent, I'm used to this I'm Scottish, it was the weird intonation swinging down and ending sentences on an up. I persevered with the book and enjoyed the story, but I can't recommend it because of the narration.
