Bruno, Chief of Police, investigates when a body is found floating in the river showing marks of Satanism. France's favourite cop must track down a murderer while quelling his town's superstitious fears in this mystery, part of an internationally best-selling series.
It is springtime France's Périgord, a time of beauty and calm. But not for Bruno, chief of police of the small town of St Denis. A woman's body has been found on a boat, bearing signs of a black magic ritual.
Bruno has too much on his plate as it is - mediating a domestic abuse case that needs careful handling and a dodgy local development proposal that seems just too good to be true.
But a murder case must take precedent and the roots of this one lie buried deep in the past - linked to a chateau above a bend in the river, to the reclusive old woman who lives there and to the secret hidden in the Devil's Cave.

Another good Bruno book.
I am so enjoying this series. Well worth time. My husband and I are listening to this as our bedtime book but unfortunately it is so good it is a book that keeps us awake so we are listening far into the night rather than send us asleep!!

There is so much going on
This novel is crowded with plot. I think overcrowded but the delightful setting carries the novel.
The author captures the sensory feeling of being in the caves and the heightened sense of drama.
Perhaps the satanic rituals and sexually explicit episodes might offend some.
I am pleased to hear that this change in narrator has brought a more youthful and believable Bruno to our ears.

Inspector Bruno my hero.
Most memorable moment when Bruno was dodging bullets in a dark cave. Magnificent
performance as usual for an ex soldier.

An intriguing mystery.
"The Devil's Cave" is another brilliant mystery in which the relationships and stories of the people of St. Denis deepen and develop. I discovered this series accidentally, but now I am addicted! Can't wait to see what the next St. Denis mystery brings!
