Summary

The first five thrilling novels in the Fringe Series are now available in a convenient audiobook bundle!

Featuring galactic conspiracies, epic interstellar missions, and three rebel captains at the front of an interplanetary war, this explosive collection includes the following titles:

  1. Fringe Runner
  2. Fringe Station
  3. Fringe Campaign
  4. Fringe War
  5. Fringe Legacy

War looms on the horizon.... After the colonization of Mars and Europa, it took us fewer than five generations to reach beyond our solar system and colonize new planets capable of supporting human life. Power struggles have made a galactic war inevitable, and only an old mail runner, a space pirate, and their ragtag crews can prevent it.

First class interstellar romp

My first audible book and what a tour de force. Rachel Aukes' Fringe series is a sweeping adventure across planetary systems. Heroes, heroines and villains abound. An age old tale of colonists versus their oppressors. We meet sympathetic and unsympathetic characters in a beautifully crafted storyline. Highly recommended.

Gets better 2nd time around

I enjoyed first time about a year+ ago and tried it again and was better. OK its universe is close to another well known TV and book series but enough of a difference and characters to make the story enjoyable and you get to know the characters well. it's just a good space story with abit of everything in it. So when do we get to see in 100 years how things worked out?

Trouble escalates rapidly

This series initially starts out in a fairly similar fashion to Firefly, you have a motley crew of characters scratching a living on their ship in a universe where a few planets dominate the rest in the aftermath of a war and it remains that way for much of the first book, but then proceeds to escalate quite drastically in the subsequent parts of the series as interplanetary war returns.

While the immediate strength of the book comes from the main crew, there is an extensive cast of characters that grows throughout the subsequent books and they all add greatly to the feel of the overall story, whether they are sympathetic heroes, somewhat dubious anti-heroes or outright villains, they all help to bring these worlds to life.

Another thing that helps to bring these books to life is a strong performance from the narrator, who copes admirably with the extensive cast, giving the main ones distinctive enough tones to avoid confusing the listener and enhancing the story overall.

Overall, this was an enjoyable collection that worked really well, the level of escalation was a bold move as they could have readily got a series out of the firefly stage of book one if they had been so inclined.

Complete

I have read thousands of books and listened to many more. Over the years I would like to think that I can recognise a book or short series that surprises me for all the right reasons. This series was a purely speculative buy but by mid way into book 1 I was listening harder and binged the rest of the series. At the end of which I felt that either a good end had been delivered, get was leaving room for a possible next generation series. Thus I feel that the books and the performance were well worth the time and gave a complete package, both being excellent in their own right. Thanks to of involved.

Not a bad collection of stories

There are a lot of things to like about the fringe collection, by Rachel Aukes. She has put together an excellent story of colonization, spaceships and ragtag crews saving the day. At times this collection was a page turner, the stories left me intrigued as to what would happen next. I will be looking out for more of her work. I'd be happy to recommend this to anyone interested in the genre.

James Anderson Forster did a pretty good job of placing me at the scene, and immersing me in the world.

Good space opera but nothing new here

This was a well structured series of books and we'll performed. It was also good value at 1 credit for the pack. The characters were likeable but I wasn't really moved by the story.
