About this listen

Keep your family safe.

Whatever the cost....

Jamie and Victoria are expecting their first baby.

With a few weeks to go, they head off for a final weekend break in a remote part of the North Pennines. The small and peaceful guesthouse is the ideal location to unwind together before becoming parents. Upon arrival, they are greeted by Barry and Fiona, the older couple who run the guesthouse. They cook them dinner and show them to their room before retreating to bed themselves.

The next morning, Jamie and Victoria wake to find the house deserted. Barry and Fiona are nowhere to be seen. All the doors are locked. Both their mobile phones and car keys have disappeared. Even though it's a few weeks early, Victoria knows the contractions are starting.

The baby is coming, and there's no way out.

"A tense thriller with a killer twist!" (KL Slater)

I had to overcome my skepticism about a plot element which I found difficult to believe but nevertheless an interesting story. Well performed.

Great performances

I really enjoyed the book and the narrator’s are excellent. The story is good but in parts a little far-fetched. However, overall it is interesting and holds the attention. I will be listening to other novels by this author.

A good listen

Loved, loved, loved (!) this book. I cared about the characters deeply and had chills all the way through-- a thriller with heart. The Guest House is fast-paced, full of twists and turns, and flips back and forth in time in a way that feels refreshing and new. An original premise and an even more original ending.

Enthralling, essential read

This was such a good book. Great characters and the unraveling of the plot was so well done! Sad it’s ended and can’t wait for another from the author. Really like Joanne Froggatt’s narration…

Brilliant Story

Readers were great and as the story unfolded things improved but I found the plot completely unbelievable.

Not credible

It’s a good story but the narration by Zak Ford-Williams just spoilt it for me, his dialects and accents were woefully short of what was required and his overall delivery lacked pathos

Spoilt by narration

Started off promising and then went rather silly.
Jamie's voice was annoying.
Epilogue at the end-strange? Why had Fiona developed a child's voice?
Could of been good but something was slightly off

Hmmm, wasn't sure at first.
