An enjoyable tale of love and loss. Some fabulous descriptions and likeable characters who have to survive their lives in very challenging times. Grace is an excellent storyteller who keeps you enthralled in the unfolding tale. Narration is just gorgeous and the ending was a surprise.

I enjoyed this book, especially the last couple of hours when things were revealed. If you like a book that ambles along with secrets and the hierarchy of the family and their staff, then this is for you. It's not a fast paced edge-of-your-seat story, but is still a good listen that kept me interested. I did keep speeding it up though, and listened to the last half at speed x1.7!

Really enjoyed the beginning of this book, but found the ending disappointing and somewhat obvious. The narration is excellent.

A wonderful story and beautifully written. There is a lot of detail that didn't technically need to be included, but I personally enjoyed all the embellishment. I was very invested in the characters and their tragic tales.

Enjoyable enough, though there are some serious narrative flaws that clunked with me. The prose was too blatant, and you and I have both read this kind of novel before numerous times. It needed something unique, which just wasn't present.

Also, the first person character kept dropping into narrating things that she just couldn't have known or been present for!

I’ve really liked her other books but this one I couldn’t care enough to finish. I found the main character meek and the two riverton sisters unbearable and obnoxious. I didn’t like any of the characters enough to actually care what happened to them so I gave up.

Such fascinating history and wonderful descriptions of the lives of people and their social class at the beginning of the 20th century. How times have changed! I loved every minute of this brilliant novel. Beautifully read by Emilia Fox.

I really enjoyed this book. I personally love a longer book to listen to and Emila Fox did a wonderful narration of this novel.

A lovely 1920 family saga

I enjoyed the book a lot; I thought of it as a cross between Titanic & Downton Abbey. Emilia Fox is excellent as usual (I downloaded the book because she was the reader). Characters & story well put together but the writing is fantastic overall painting a real picture of the time.
