Summary

A tale of magic and responsibility, read by Richard E. Grant

For Omri, it is a dream come true when the plastic American Indian he locks into the old cupboard comes to life. Little Bull is everything an Indian brave should be – proud, fearless and defiant.

But being in charge of a real, live, human being is a heavy responsibility, as Omri soon discovers. And when his best friend, Patrick, is let in on the secret, he soon realises that life-changing decisions lie ahead.

Excellent recording

Excellent recording - Richard E Grant does all the voices really well. My only gripe is that, although the book has been abridged, the swear words haven't been removed. Such a shame as I wanted to play this to my class at school.

Super

One of my favourite books from childhood; just filled a dreary traffic-jam filled 3 hour drive in the car with my 5 year old, who listened intently. Beautiful narration too.

Brilliant Story, Well Told.

Where does The Indian in the Cupboard rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is absolutely one of my favourite books, and now one of my favourite audio books too.

What did you like best about this story?

The story is full of adventure, excitement and wonder. It is suitable for the whole family. Myself, my partner and my two children (7 and 5) were all enthralled.

What about Richard E. Grant’s performance did you like?

Richard reads the story very well indeed. He has a good clear voice, a nice steady pace, and he adds just the right amount of excitement and emotion to the tale. Very well done. I was impressed.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The story is full of wonder, excitement and adventure - just as a good (children's) book should be.

Any additional comments?

A great buy, highly recommended.

superb

Our girls, 7 and 10, and myself as a middle aged Dad, absolutely loved this story. The performance was also superb. I was worried it would feel dated given the references to red Indians but you just found yourself carried away with the story.

Abridged version of the story

Any additional comments?

This is not an unabridged version of the book. Youtube has people reading from the actual book and there is lots missed out and simplified. Not impressed at all.
