Summary

The best-selling author of Centurion and The Gladiator returns with another action-packed Roman adventure.

Trouble is brewing in Egypt. Rebel gladiator Ajax and his men have been posing as Roman soldiers and attacking naval bases, merchant vessels, and villages. Prefect Cato and Centurion Macro have been charged with the task of tracking down the renegade warrior before the problem gets out of control. Joining forces with Legion III, the hope is to destroy their enemy on the battlefield. But the cunning gladiator has other ideas....

Sort of disappointed

Would you try another book written by Simon Scarrow or narrated by Steven Pacey?

Yes, Stephen Pacey is one of the best narrators out there, this was my 1st Simon Scarrow novel so I would give him another chance

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Is that it? At only four hours long it felt way to short and at times felt like a book for young adults.

Have you listened to any of Steven Pacey’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Yes and as always his performance is excellent even if some of the characters in ancient rome have so very british accents.

If this book were a film would you go see it?

No

Any additional comments?

Give it a go, but bear in mind it fells like a short story rather than a full blown book. I'm aware there are others in this series and maybe if I tried two together it may be a different opinion afterwards
