About this listen

If you don't know Simon Scarrow, you don't know Rome!

The Legion is the action-packed tenth novel in Simon Scarrow's best-selling Eagles of the Empire series. Perfect for fans of Bernard Cornwell and Conn Iggulden.

Egypt, AD 49. Cato, one of the youngest Prefects of the Roman army, and Centurion Macro have a tough posting: to track down and destroy a gang of former gladiators who have turned to piracy. Driven by vengeance, these hardened brutes have been defiling temples, sinking Roman ships, and slaughtering men, women and children.

What's worse is that they are doing it all under the name of Macro and Cato, in an attempt to stir up a rebellion against the occupying forces. And it's working. If Macro and Cato don't stop the pirates in time, it could be the beginning of the end for the Roman Empire.

Great start to finish

I started on the book previous to this and this one was a great follow up. I fully expect i will go on to listen to them all. The story is entertaining, The main characters are really likeable and real and the voice acting is superb. There are voices done by the speaker for each character but none are so far from his voice that it takes away from the storyline. I listen to this book going to sleep and also on the bus to work and it is great in both situations.

Another brilliant title from Simon Scarrow. Scratches the itch every time. Great writing with enough Acton and engaging story it’s the same formula with a few twists to ranks. All in all a great listen

Macro

Another great listen from simon scarrow
Just one thing. Johnathan keeble is probably the best narrator on audible but stangely
Macro seems to change from being quite well spoken to a rough cockney hard man
Wasnt sure if it was Cato or Macro speaking at times
But still very enjoyable
