About this listen
A new job. A new home. A new start.
It's all Anna wants.
But in a closed rural community, strange traditions and a suspicion of outsiders mean everything is not as it seems.
Three teenage girls have vanished at the annual Gathering as they reach their sixteenth birthday.
No one seems to be investigating.
And a fourth girl begs Anna for help, fearing that she will be next to disappear.
Everyone has secrets.
Anna is watching everyone.
But who is watching Anna?
An unpredictable and wild thriller, with shocks, surprises and a killer twist for a finale.

Great story, terrible narration
I have enjoyed all of Sharon's books, this was no exception. If my review was for the story alone it would be 5 star. I really enjoyed the twists and the ending.
However, the narration on this book was awful, really off-putting. I should have tried the sample before buying. Very over the top dramatic, and the rolling 'r's and weird pronunciation of 'wh' W-hare instead of where, w-hen instead of when were really annoying.
I wish I'd just read the paper version of the book instead of wasting an Audible credit. I don't know what the publishers were thinking with this narration style.

Poor narration
I’ve read everything by Sharon / SJ Bolton. I do much prefer the earlier stuff but even so, this was disappointing. The way things were handled by the police and psychiatrist was just ridiculous.
I was interested enough in the story to stick with it, some of the twists were obvious, some not. Overall it was fairly enjoyable.
The thing that nearly stopped me listening was the narration. Absolutely awful. What on earth was going on with all the rolling of the r’s? Had that been one character’s way of talking ok but it was all over the book. Incredibly irritating.
