About this listen

In this mesmerising thriller from the bestselling author of Keep Her Secret, a family’s fresh start is just the beginning of their nightmare…

Ethan Dove’s family has moved to a new home in a safe community, and it’s exactly the fresh start they need. Not only is his marriage to Emma hanging by a thread, but his son, Dylan, and twelve-year-old daughter, Rose, deserve to have a happy childhood.

After Rose is bullied by the boys across the road, Ethan is relieved when the woman who lives next door steps in. Fiona Smith has come into their lives at just the right moment, and when she offers to look after Rose during the school holidays, Ethan and Emma can’t believe their luck.

Which is exactly what Fiona wants. Because, far from being the perfect neighbour, Fiona is the last person you should trust with your child. With a vicious plot for revenge, Fiona is happy to train Rose to be her accomplice, especially when she begins to suspect that Rose might not be as innocent as she appears…

The Psychopath Next Door is a gripping and twisted psychological suspense thriller set in the terrifying world of Mark Edwards’s bestselling The Magpies universe.

“Sinister, creepy, and utterly gripping—I could not stop reading. And that ending! My jaw hit the floor.”—Ruth Kelly

As Fiona Smith settles into her new home, it doesn't take her long to befriend her next door neighbours. With a fragile marriage, Ethan and Emma appear to be walking around each other on eggshells, leaving a large gap for Fiona to fill. As the reader learns more about Fiona’s past and just how far she will go for revenge, nothing can prepare you for the rollercoaster ride Edwards takes you.
Expect twists and turns galore. It's a little too silly for my liking, but it's an easy read.

great narrators, could definitely imagine all the characters, loved the speed of everything coming together towards the end and the twists were as good as any TV Drama!

intriguing storyline pulled me in and I'm so glad it did!

I didn’t enjoy this listen very much. Improbable with some clunky plot shifts. A pretty gruesome ending also. Felt that they took things too far.

Improbable plot

good story but the female narrator spoilt it. completely over performed, over pronouncing words, it was extremely grating. the male narrator was good.

terrible female narration

Generally a good storyline. I did guess the ending and found it a bit predictable but that’s what happens when u read a lot of these sorts of books. Really struggled with the female voice over & on several occasions the characters all sounded the same and the accents got lost, don’t want to be too critical but it distracted from the story and getting into the depth of each character.

Generally good but voices made it hard to listen to the end

Decent story, bit unbelievable but easy enough to listen to. The narrator is absolutely awful. Her attempt at performance is so annoying bordering on laughable. Ruins the book a bit.
