About this listen

The true story of London's toughest, deadliest street gangs: the events, the rules and the real top boys.

Are the streets of London some of the deadliest in the world?

What's the truth behind the headlines?

And who are the real top boys?

The Real Top Boys reveals the lives of the street gangs who have taken over, and now rule, dozens of corners of the UK's capital.

Best-selling true-crime author Wensley Clarkson takes us on a tour of the housing estates and volatile neighbourhoods where pride, rivalry and revenge are the codes people live and die by. He talks to the criminals who have helped create this chilling modern-day underworld and recounts the vicious turf wars that changed the map, unravels the rules and rights of the streets, and charts the rise and fall of many of the game's key players over the decades that have transformed the city.

Featuring interviews with real-life gangsters and told in a gripping story that lays bare the hard life in this world, The Real Top Boys is the ultimate account of gang life in London and a jaw-dropping look at who really runs the streets.

Authentic, gritty glimpse into a world most of us will never see.

Absolutely love this book. Binged over 2 days. Excellent narration and superb, well researched accounts of a world unavailable to most.

Insightful book

Bravo to the author for tackling such a tricky subject. It surely gave an insight into the underworld and explains why certain things happen

a mixed bag of treats and groans

lots of positives are compact story which seems very well researched and I would put in the category of light crime fluff. negatives of the awful voice acting and the fact it is basically just a promotional audiobook for a TV series that isn't actually that good

Watch the tv series first.

Performance was spectacular but I would suggest watching the show first. Last 90 minutes is just talking about

Great book, narrator is terrible

The book is really interesting the narrator though is shocking, cringeworthy pretend accents when reading certain parts.

Enjoyed the series, now enjoyed the book

What I found refreshing, is really fact he used real stories and people, just changed their name, after seeing the series and blue story too, wanted to read about them also, loved both the series, film and the book.......hard to stop listening continuously

Good book. the book leans on top boy alot towards the end. It almost feels unfinished and unnecessarily filled
