About this listen

The Synchronicity War is over, and the insectoid beachheads in our spiral arm have been destroyed, but the aftermath of the war holds some nasty surprises for humanity and its loyal AI allies. Somebody is messing with the human time line. Is it the friendlies, the sogas, the insectoids, or a new race?

This stand-alone novel set in the Synchronicity War universe has new human and AI characters. Find out what happened to Valkyrie, Casanova, Iceman, Gunslinger, and the other Rim AIs. The Retro War spans time and space in a galactic chess game with humans and their AIs as the pawns.

A good ending

I have lost a lot of sleep listening to The Synchronicity War Series waking up in the middle of my sleep cycle thinking about the insects and alternative time changes. I had forgotten everything until I listened to them again in the last month and they still affected my sleep pattern. Well written and narrated if I could give it 10 stars I would.

sat up all night couldn't put it down

as usual Luke Daniels is brilliant and having been entranced with synchronicity war, I am not disappointed with the Retro War. I cannot think of any part of this book I could single out. the whole thing is great

It just ok...

It was like the story was meant to be a few books but then cut in to one, it doesn't allow you to develop any emotion for new characters. So while not a bad book it's not a great book either.

Gave me a headache!

Would you try another book written by Dietmar Wehr or narrated by Luke Daniels?

Yes to both. Author and narrator. Luke Daniels is one of my favourite narrators but even he struggles in this book, particularly with the AIs portrayals. I've read the Synchronicity War books by Wehr and would recommend them.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

If the mechanics of time travel is your thing, this might be for you but as I said - HEADACHE! The author went into too much detail and the result was confusing and replaced the 'action' of the other books.

Do you think The Retro War needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

I won't be reading any follow-up.
