About this listen
"Big Bob" Bashara put on a respectable face. To his friends in Detroit's affluent suburb of Grosse Pointe, he was a married father of two, Rotary Club President, church usher, and soccer dad who organized charity events with his wife, Jane.
To his "slaves", he was "Master Bob", a cocaine-snorting slumlord who operated a sex dungeon and had a submissive girlfriend to do his bidding - and he wanted more slaves to serve him. But Bashara knew he couldn't rule a household of concubines on his income alone. He eyed his wife's sizable retirement account and formulated a murderous plan.
This meticulous account tells the complete story of the crime, the nationally watched investigation and trials, and the lives affected.

Horrid horrid man
Fascinating
His sexual preferences had nothing to do with the fact that this man was revolting.

interesting
Nice insight to how far a so called respectable married man and a pillar of the community. would go to cover up his secret life.

The Sadist, The Hitman & The Murder of Jane Bashara
Absolutely riveting. Well worth a listen. He is definitely where he should be. Fantastic Narrator too, I’ve listened to a few books read by this narrator. Brilliant.

Engaging story of the tragic death of Jane Bashara
Really enjoyed listening to this - I liked the way the story was laid out & I enjoyed the narrator's style. I was pleased that the victims of this crime - Jane & her loved ones - were given ample focus in this book - instead of purely focusing on Bob. What a waste of a good life - rest in peace Jane X

A bit rambling, padded, and boring at times
The narrator does a great job with somewhat flawed material. The problem centres on the style of the book - it’s one of those that are typical of US true crime stories whereby there’s way too much irrelevant detail and consequently the story is rambling and and times very dull….my mind kept drifting off the subject. If you like that style then great but I prefer a bit more focus…..

Most interesting
I don't know why the reviews were not good for this book as I thoroughly enjoyed it. I never heard of this case before. The narrator was excellent although it takes a bit to get used to the imitation voices. As I listened on though, I felt they added to the overall enjoyment of the book. The courtroom closing impact statements from the Judge and family members were riveting and well founded. What a horrible narcissistic man Bob Bashara was. He was totally delusional and a compulsive liar. May Jane truly rest in peace. She so did not deserve her appalling fate. So very sad for her family too. Highly recommended.

Sucked in by a titillating story line
Sucked in by a titillating story line … I’ll admit it. I found the story and narration ok but neither were anything special and by the end I was finding it somewhat monotonous .

You’ll need to dig in
I persevered only just because I had to know what happened. The narrator was dreary and monotone, the story was twice as long as it needed to be. Hard work. If you need something to put you to sleep this is highly recommended
