About this listen

Anna Hemingway decides it's time for a fresh start. So Anna and her three-year-old daughter move to a cottage in the village of Little Somerby, where she takes over the running of the village tea shop, and they start to find happiness again.

Throughout a whirlwind year, life blossoms. But when history seems to be repeating itself, Anna must find the strength to hold on to her new life.

Found that voices of characters got confused and tone and pitch often didn't match text.

This started well and overall was fairly enjoyable, but at the point where the chap just stopped speaking was a bit daft and not something (in my experience would happen in real life) so the story became less believable. Added to the annoyance that the teenage daughter had a deeper voice than her dad made the performance sub-par.

I bought this book to accompany me during commuting times and it didn't disappoint. It reads easily, grips you with its narration and is quite romantic despite the many cliches.

I had two issues however that spoiled it some times for me: 1. I am sorry to say that Anna is rather dull....I could not identify with her at all. The author did not provide enough insight into her thoughts or behaviour to make her that extra special; she takes everything in, in an annoyingly stoic way. Most other characters had more soul and jazz to them.
2. I liked the actress who read it, but for some reason at times it seemed almost robotic...

Nice light hearted story - main character so dull!

The reader was little bland in places almost emotionless in parts a bit too fast in others

Great story

A good story, the plot is a good story but I’m sorry this has to be the worst narrator ever, Mary sounded like a butch tranny and Ellie a puppet. Had to finish the story but hated the narrative

Easy romantic novel . Nothing surprising but quite fun . It’s not original and a bit predictable but it’s a very easy listen

the narrator has a depressing tone and her choice of deep masculine voice for a teenage girl very distracting.

Nice story. Shame about the narration
