 Time was running out for Garion and his companions in their quest to recover Garion's infant son and heir. On occasion this series could be faulted for timing issues, the apparent dragging out of the 'b' story and sudden rush of the 'a' story. This the final book demonstrates that the preconception of the main and sub-story can be flipped. This book suffers no timing issues using its now detailed history to really expand the story and add to the suspense and the conclusions are just perfect, rounding the whole series.

Having listened to the other 4 books in the series I did wonder how this one would end, and Eddings didn't dissapoint. I loved the narrators distinct voices for each of the characters, in particular Zakath. When I read the novels originally, Zakath came over two dimensional, but Cameron Beierle brings a depth and warmth to him that I had not seen before. If you have listened to the others, then please get this one as well, you wont be dissapointed.

I have read this series so may times I lost count. Everytime its like new and listening in audible just adds another dimension. My only concern is the Pronunciation of sons words viscount us not pronounced as spelt but as vi count and as for quay its not qway

listened to all twelve books, first time was most romantic my boyfriend read them to me back in the 1980s while we were at college, re visiting them again and again over the years has been fabulous and listening to them has been a joy
