About this listen

The sequel to Puzo's epic and brutal Mafia classic The Godfather. Once again Puzo brings the history of the Corleone family to life.

Michael Corleone's exile in Sicily is ending, but on the instructions of his father, The Godfather, he must bring back to him the young man known as Salvatore Giuliano - if he can find him.

At sea amid the treacheries of a brutal and unfamiliar land, Michael must find a way through the labyrinthine deceits that surround him while Giuliano prepares himself for a final confrontation with Don Croce, capo di capi of the Sicilian Mafia.

A novel of explosive suspense, heroic action - and evil on an epic scale.

In the hands of Mario Puzo's brilliantly sinister talent, the listener comes to know again the terrible magic of the Mafia.

Amazing story! Took me ages to get into as the narration is awful :( I don’t know what on earth made them think to change it as the first book’s narration was brilliant!

Narration is shocking!

I agree with other reviews that the narration is too fast. I slowed it down just a little to .85. No problem at all at that speed. Enjoyed the story from beginning to end.

Thoroughly enjoyed it

I’m not a fan of the narrator’s voice and the slurping of one of the characters was off putting I nearly sent the book back it got that bad but I really wanted to follow the story why they didn’t have have Joe Mantegna he really gave the book a Italian feel. The Godfather trilogy is fabulous Mario Puzo gives a real feel to the Mafia story.

Good story shame about the narrators

I started listening to The Sicilian & found it too difficult & was going to give up.
I read some of the other reviews one which said to turn down to 0.7 speed which I did & ended up thoroughly enjoying the audible book.

Speed of dialogue too much

Thrilling and compelling story of giuliano in great detail. Great read and very well narrated.

Excellent

The story is good, following similar style as The Godfather.
The performance:
1) it is done by full cast. Each character has its own voice/actor, and they all do a good work. This is the reason I didn’t give one star for performance.
2) the quality of the audio is bad. When an actor is impersonating a character the audio quality is even worse and in a lower volume.
3) it is read to quickly. There are no brakes between paragraphs or chapters. I had to reduce the speed to 0.8x to be able to enjoy it.

Bad quality audio

i like the intertwining of a true story and a classic book for sure. Sadly, the narrator and the editing of the narration is poor at best. Played at a slower speed helps though.

the worst of narration

Nowhere near as good as the Godfather, and performed far too fast - the narrator doesn't do the story justice, seeming determined only to finish as quickly as possible. Shame, as otherwise the story is an acceptable plot set in the Sicilian mountains and villages.

good, but...

The story is pretty good, it's very good actually. Recommended - although in the interests of honesty, not as highly as its outstanding prequel The Godfather. For those who have just finished The Godfather and are eager to crack onto 'book 2', this isn't exactly a sequal so much as a sort-of-linked parallel. It's a great story all the same and give it a go but consider the paper version... The real weak point in the Audible version is the narration unfortunately. It's not the main narrator, that side of things is fine (not brilliant but perfectly OK) but there are a number of voice actors for various characters and honestly these performances (and the recording quality) are simply ghastly...not in every instance admittedly but for the most part they really are bad and they do undoubtedly hinder things. The accents...oh the accents.

Good story, fair narrator, horrendous voice acting
