About this listen
This set contains the first four books in The Silencer Series, including:
The Silencer
Fully Loaded
Hard Target
Blowback
The Silencer:
CIA Black Ops agent John Smith is on his latest assignment in London. Little does he know - it'll be his last. Barely surviving an attack on his life, Smith lays low for six months until he returns to the United States. His flight is strangely diverted to Philadelphia where he meets a mysterious stranger who knows all about his past and recruits him for a job.
Needing a new identity, Smith becomes Michael Recker. He then tries to prevent bad things happening to innocent people while also interacting with the city's different crime factions. All the while, Recker plans his revenge on the mysterious Agent 17, who committed an act so heinous that Recker will never forget it.
Fully Loaded:
After being ambushed, Recker goes missing for several days and is presumed dead. Once he returns, he seeks retribution on the men responsible and turns to an unlikely source to help him get his revenge. As he embarks on his plot for revenge, he must not only carefully navigate around Mia's growing feelings for him, but also his own feelings for her.
While still not forgetting his main goal of helping the innocent, Recker also further cements his relationship with Tyrell by helping him with a family problem. Though he still keeps Mia at a distance, they can't help but become closer as Recker investigates the disappearance of one of her closest friends.
As Recker embarks on his deadly rampage, Jones worries about The Silencer's growing reputation amongst the public and government agencies.
Hard Target:
Recker finally reaches his boiling point and confronts Jones about his lack of progress in finding Agent 17. The professor, feeling guilty about not locating him, admits to a secret he's been hiding. As Recker is trying to find Agent 17, Mia launches her own investigation into her friend's death, frustrated that the killer still hasn't been brought to justice. Her lack of experience causes a major mistake - one that may cost the life of both her and Jones. Recker must not only find Agent 17, but save the lives of his friends before it's too late.
Blowback:
After the circumstances of Agent 17's death, the CIA turns to a specialist to help track down the man they think is responsible - John Smith. Though Recker knows Centurion is coming, he doesn't change how he operates and winds up on police surveillance cameras. Feeling the walls closing in, Jones wants to pack up and move to a new city, though Recker has reservations about leaving. It all boils down to a final confrontation between Recker and his former employers - one he may not survive.

Thoroughly enjoyable
I read some of the reviews, and almost decided not to bother with The Silencer series. I'm glad I didn't. I was engrossed from beginning to end.

Poor copy of the Orphan X storyline
Decent story, but annoyingly similar to the back story and circumstances outlined in the Orphan X books, without the charm, eloquence and with a dizzying approach to conveying time.

Not A Novel - Each Book Reads Like an Episode of a TV Show!
Audible Review
THE SILENCER
The narrator, Brian Hutchison, was very good. The plot is very reminiscent of an American TV show (the name of which, I truly can’t remember)! It also reads like it. It’s quite episodic. Interesting, but not really a novel, therefore really easy to read in one day. (I’ll try to remember the name of the show and update the review). 3 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️
EDIT: ‘Person Of Interest’ is the name of the TV show. I don’t know which came first, but the show was better. The show had the police as ‘accomplices’, rather than the gang lords...
FULLY LOADED
This is not a novel really. It’s an extended episode. In my review of the first book in this series, I opined that it was very similar to a TV show (Person Of Interest), so this is like the ‘screenplay’ of an episode. So, it’s interesting, kinda, but it’s not a novel. It’s just episodic.
One observation is that Mia, is really tedious and annoying. I can easily do without her... <sigh>. 4 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
HARD TARGET
To be honest, I spitefully want to give this title only 1 star ⭐️, but that wouldn’t be fair because, it’s an emotive reaction based on my total dislike of the character Mia! She is absolutely tedious, irritating, silly and dumb!
So that alone tells me that this is a good story! If you’ve seen my previous reviews of books one and two, you’ll know that I think of this as a TV series, it is episodic, Not a novel but an episode of an ongoing TV series. So this is the first book that actually reads like a novel and maybe that’s because it’s not itemising and detailing the various ‘jobs’ that he undertakes. This is an episode/story written around the ‘stupid’ female Mia the nurse and her stupid, ill informed, reckless actions.
I’m over her and would be MORE than happy if she were removed!! Sigh. So in terms of episodic interest, this was a great emotive one. But the emotions are anger, frustration and a desire to slap this woman. Sigh. 3 reluctant stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️
BLOWBACK
Finally at episode 4 of this TV series (see my previous reviews of books 1-3), this comes into its own! I’m now tempted to read book 5!
Mia now has a boyfriend (who Recker doesn’t trust), so I dare say there’s scope for her to further get on my nerves in future episodes! Recker and Jones are making plans to relocate because the CIA have finally located, Recker. The tensions and interests behind these factors are now starting to make this series more of a novel than previously. However it is STILL episodic and really has definite links to the ‘Person Of Interest’ TV Show. I discovered today that POI was written first! It ran for 5 seasons (I think) and was really good. I hope that this series now goes from strength to strength! Not quite 5 stars yet! 4 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Good but not exceptional
Read these BEFORE Reacher, the story is good but lacks the luster of Reacher. I read all the Teacher stories before these which, with out hindsight was a mistake. Had I read these first I would not have a to struggle to read the next one. With the Reacher series I was reading well into the night, unable to put them down, just the next chapter and the next..

Brilliantly written and Read
Brilliant / amazing stories/ story line! I am severely dyslexic and struggle to read and understand books been read to me unless I can get my brain into the story line and this had me hooked from the start! I am about to start boom five in the second set of books in this story arch and I have already with the help of my partner found and downloaded all the other stories in this series!! Can not listen enough! Thank Mike for your writing and Brian as your reading / narration is just on point 😊

The Silencer? More like Mills and Boon
I've never written a bad review, but felt compelled to do so. First book is excellent. Face paced and a great story. Main character is a tough guy as he should be with this background. However, second book in he has fallen for one of the most pathetic female character ever and I don't know the exact timescale but it took all of a month.. So now he as trouble concentrating and leaves a mission so he can go and rescue her. My eyes did so much rolling, I've lost them in the back of my head somewhere. Book 2 was like a Mills and Boon romance with the odd bit of torture/murder. Sadly, I was unable to read any further.
