Not as good as the hype

It's oksy, an average who dunnit, I had read rave reviews about the twist at the end, I thought it was quite obvious though. It's not a bad book, I just expected more.

Dull....

I found this story incredibly dull.
I'm surprised people couldn't see the 'twist' coming towards the end...

Gripping. Couldn't stop listening.

What a story. Really kept me guessing. This was superb, an intelligent thoughtful, well narrated thriller. Absolutely excellent. It twisted and turned and actually made me gasp out loud. I shall be seeking out more by this author!

Absolutely brilliant

Read it straight through. Quite a few hours but I just couldn't stop. This is brilliantly written and a page turner. Great narration. Great twists and turns. No wonder Stephen Fry recommends it. Going to purchase this book for my mother, who I think will be equally pleased.

It was ok

Toward the end it feels unfulfilled, then suddenly not a little too late in the story for me. There could have been more thrill

keeps the suspense right up to the final chapter

Had no trouble listening to the end of this book. The story is different to others I've read or watched on tv, I live a good murder mystery and the mystery was slowly slowly revealed throughout the book.
Sometimes I found the 'female' voice read within the main chapters a bit irritating, it put me in mind of a drag queen , or an older woman with twin set and pearls. Yet that is not how I saw the characters. It was otherwise well read and the characters visible within the words and the path through the tale was clear and easy to follow.
I did feel a little annoyed that the aggressive mental health patients were portrayed through the accents as rough working class. Yet the words did not necessitate this and could as easily been read as a middle class accent.
The story was believable and gripped my imagination and I was looking forward to hearing each chapter.
highly recommend this to murder mystery fans. It doesn't introduce a new character towards the end, which is a real cheat regularly used by less imaginative and lower quality writers. This book shows the imagination the faces of the characters through effective descriptions that create a character. Enough words spoken gives as the writer slowly brings the clues together allows the mind to hear the meanings. As the book progresses the meaning of the previous mysterious happenings become clear, or do they? A surprising and excellent book well worth listening or reading.
