About this listen

The New York Times best-selling author of The Widow returns with a brand new novel of twisting psychological suspense about every parent's worst nightmare....

When two 18-year-old girls go missing in Thailand, their families are thrust into the international spotlight: desperate, bereft and frantic with worry. What were the girls up to before they disappeared?

Journalist Kate Waters always does everything she can to be first to the story, first with the exclusive, first to discover the truth - and this time is no exception. But she can't help but think of her own son, whom she hasn't seen in two years, since he left home to go travelling.

As the case of the missing girls unfolds, they will all find that even this far away, danger can lie closer to home than you might think....

The story pulled you in immediatley and the characters were flawed, interesting and relatable. Will be looking for this author again.

Good compelling read

This is a decent holiday read, perhaps especially if the holiday is in Thailand... Works quite well with lots of twists and turns to keep the reader interested though it does stretch one's credibility in some places. The police seem particularly inept but if they weren't, the story wouldn't work. Not really happy with the multiple narrators. One good one should be enough.

Decent who/why-dunnit

Thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book. very clever how the story comes together and a few good twists in the second half.

The performance was second to none and will be listening to more from these narrators.

A great story and fantastic performance.

I really like that there were a few narrators as it made it easier for me to follow the different characters (sometimes a struggle when I'm pottering around the house listening to an audio book). The storyline was very good, I found it slowed down slightly in places but quickly picked back up and held my interest until the end! I'd certainly recommend it 😉

Loved it!

I didn't like the narration. Quite clever telling the story with different perspectives but didn't quite work for me.

Not as good as I thought...

I love this writer
Love the familiar characters from earlier books

My only negative is that the plot did seem to drag on

Great read but slightly long

I felt that the female voices were rather off-putting. They were far too posh and the rather gruff voice which was used by the female for the male parts was very false sounding.

Narrator

a good story expertly told. every parents worse fear in terms of your child abroad.

Amazing narration

The novel is truly engrossing. Beautifully written, with well drawn characters, it draws the listener into the oppressive atmosphere of what took place in Thailand and all of the ramifications. Highly recommend.

Superb
