About this listen
From bestselling author Amanda Prowse comes a heartwarming tale of first impressions and lasting love.
Thomasina "Hitch" Waycott loves living and working on the remote family farm and B&B. But she also wants more. To see the world. To own her own home. To fall madly in love.
But those are fairy tales, and if her life is a fairy tale, then she’s the ugly duckling. Her deformed lip, her crooked limbs and her weak heart have kept her from taking chances. But that’s about to change.
When Grayson Potts comes to stay, he’s unlike anyone Thomasina has ever met. He’s aloof, eccentric and exceptionally kind. He’s also totally unconcerned with the physical flaws that have always defined Thomasina.
The two form a bond that neither has had before. It’s possible that it could become something more, but Thomasina also wonders if it’s too good to be true. By putting her heart on the line, Thomasina may open herself to heartbreak. But she may also open herself to so much more.

Lovely, just lovely.
This is a gentle but poignant story, outlining the struggles encountered by those who are born different. The story is beautifully read by the author and concludes leaving the listener so satisfied for the family but especially Tomasina and Grayson.

Stunning!
'The Things I know' by Amanda Prowse.
Genre: Contemporary & Romance Fiction.
About the book: Tomasina lives on a remote farm/B&B with her family. She works hard daily and loves her family, yet she feels severely lonely and suffocated. Tomasina has some health difficulties and bodily deformities. People have been cruel to her and she feels that she will never experience love as her parents have.
However, one afternoon the family have a B&B guest staying for a few nights called Grayson Potts. None of them knew that this booking would lead to a chain of events that would change all of their lives forever.
My Review: Stunning! I love this novel! I could not put this book down. It is such a page-turner. The pace is excellent and there is no over description. A great balance of show and tell.
I felt like I was on an emotional rollercoaster with the protagonist and the love interest. The protagonist is three dimensional and she is such a loveable character. There are too many main characters out there in the fiction world who have no disabilities or deformities. They are normally seen as minor character. Therefore, I highly praise Amanda for bringing such a fantastic protagonist to the front stage.
Also, I praise the author for showing what it can be like for caring someone who has an addiction especially someone who is in denial of their addiction. Amanda has a great talent for showing the pure human experience.
The romance between the protagonist and the love interest is beautiful but also realistic. It had me in tears at some points.
Triggers - Bullying & Addiction.
I highly recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys this genre. I aim to read all of Amanda's novels.

WONDERFUL
I found Amanda's books through her 2 non-fiction titles and was so happy to discover that she had an extensive back catalogue of fiction titles too! I'm steadily working my way through them and so far, all have been 5🌟 reads or listens. This book included.

Delightful !!!!
Loved this book. Both characters were so likeable. Thomasina (Hitch) was such a lovely person and you just want nothing but the best for her. It was so sad to hear how some people were so nasty to her because she had a disfigurement and a disability. This is most likely the case in reality for all people who have disabilities. Its disgraceful and unbelievable that people think that that's acceptable!
Anyway...... Emery was such a lovely man, I think it would be correct to assume he had the characteristics of autism as some of his reactions and replies to people making fun of him were quite comical as he was often oblivious to the fact that they were teasing him.
I just loved the whole story and definitely recommend it.

A Beautiful Story
I too was born with “the instructions upside down” and felt Amanda Prowse wrote this story very empathetically. She did not ‘label’ any body / any of her characters and that was lovely. A very positive and sympathetic style of writing about impairment.
I really found this story a joy to listen too and it was beautifully narrated too. Great work Amanda! Thank you!!
