About this listen

From New York Times best-selling author Melissa Foster comes The Whiskeys: Dark Knights at Redemption Ranch, a new small-town, big-family series of stand-alone romance novels featuring fiercely loyal, insanely sexy bikers who give horses—and people—a second chance.

Buckle up for a wild ride in Hope Valley, Colorado, as these big-hearted badasses and their sassy sisters wrangle in their forever loves. No cliff-hangers, no cheating, and always a happily ever after.

She’s the only woman he’s ever loved, and the one he could never have....

Years after losing one of their best friends to a dare gone wrong, Devlin “Dare” Whiskey continues to live up to his name, endlessly testing fate, while Billie Mancini buried the best parts of herself. Billie is beautiful and tough, and battling demons Dare has no idea exist. But Dare is done watching her pretend to be something she’s not and takes on his most important challenge yet—showing the woman he loves that some dares are worth the risk.

I LOVED this!! The Whiskeys have long since been a favourite read of Melissa Foster, but Dare is certainly the top of the list.

Billie and Devlin (Dare) along with their friend Eddie grew up together and did everything with each other, with friends and family nicknaming them Daredevils. As they grew up, Eddie became the camera man documenting Billie and Dare's many daredevil adventures until tragedy strikes and three become two. Billie struggles and finds the only way to cope is to shut down and everyone out, only Dare refuses to give up.

I find Melissa's books emotional, but this one really got me. It's beautifully written and hearing the narration brings a whole new level of emotion. After listening to this one, you'll want to go and visit with the other Whiskey and Wickeds.

Wow!!!

I haven't listened to anything by this author before, I was drawn to try this because it's narrated by two of my favourite narrators.
I'm so happy I found it. An absolute roller coaster of emotions - it made me laugh, made me cry and made me swoon too. Billie & Dare's story is full of love, passion and strength. I adored it, and the second book in the series too, which I listened to straight afterwards. Both are fantastic and the start of me listening to Melissa's other books.

What a fantastic roller coaster of a book!!

90% of the book is just Billie being upset about Eddie or Billie bringing up Eddie or Billie being hung up about what happened to Eddie.
Basically it feels like the whole book is just every conversation circling back to the loss of Eddie.
This book is basically 90% about grieving and how Billie dealt with it and 10% about her actual relationship development with Dare.
Just when you think we’re done talking about Eddie, nope it’s back and we’re right back to talking about Eddie again.
I read the book while simultaneously listening to the audiobook so I skimmed over parts that mentioned Eddie and started skipping chunks altogether after the gazillionth time Eddie’s name came up because I was fed up and it’s was just too repetitive.

Overused mention of Eddie
