About this listen
For eight strangers in a Los Angeles hostel, even the other side of the world isn’t far enough. The craving for a new identity and the desire to start again is something they have in common. But they discover that it doesn't matter where you are or who you are - if you can't lay the past to rest, fate and coincidence have a way of catching up with you.

Amazing storytelling
Just love all John Marrs’ books, each one so different. Wasn’t sure if I could cope with all the different characters in this one, however the constantly developing plot all fell into place eventually with many twists along the way. Well done Mr Marrs, can’t wait for the next book being released in September

Good story but annoying narration
I’ve loved every one of the previous John Marrs titles I’ve purchased, but this was the first one I didn’t finish.
The storyline was interesting and the characters somewhat relatable, however the terrible American accents were so annoying I just couldn’t finish the book.

A solid Marrs story
Enjoyed this book. Not my favourite of Mr Marrs’s books but a good read nonetheless. A few twists which I didn’t see coming but more predictable than some of his others which I found a little more gripping. The narration by Peter Noble was outstanding and I felt it enhanced the telling of this story. A very talented man. I good book which I would be happy to recommend.

Lots happening
I really enjoyed this audiobook. Lots of twists in all of the stories. So much going on with each character. Another great book by John Marrs!

Final chapters like an episode of GoT
A good yarn narrated very well where a group of strangers fall into the melting pot of a Venice beach hostel and it all just gets very convoluted before (mostly) tying up in the end.. I've read other JM books and loved them, in my mind this one lags a bit but still enjoyable

Most satisfying
I struggled with the beginning, so many characters and almost gave up, but DO NOT. Persist and you'll be rewarded with dense yarn that dove tails to a gratifying end. This is my favourite of Marrs to date.

A mixed up tale of travel, lies, murder and more!
Mr Marrs hits the sweet spot again! I really enjoyed 'The Good Samaritan' but I hated 'When You Disappeared' and went into this one with my fingers crossed but I needn't have worried as it blew my socks off.
It's a tale of many parts which contains the back stories and the present going on's of a rag tag group of people who converage on a run down hostel located in Los Angeles. The story starts off slowly and the chapters are quite small allowing the book to flow along nicely.
The narration is excellent with each character given their own voice, although there is one that sounds slightly like Sean Connery! I did start off disliking a few characters but by the time their stories were told my opinion had changed. That is down to the skill of the author.
Well worth a credit!

hooked right away
love the way you get to know all of the characters well. I found myself laughing at some of the antics they all got up to, feeling stunned at the twists and turns, and toward the end I wept for some of them. loved this book.

Not his best
I have really loved all his books so far but this one didn't quite make it... a long amble through coincidence, well intertwined to give an intriguing story but it lacked his usual shock tactics and unique way of surprising you just when you thought you had it sorted. it was quite hard to keep up with the backwards and forwards storyline of a book which just didn't quite he your attention or intrigue.

Fantastic listen
I have never heard of the author or the narrator but I will be looking out for more by them both.
This is a brilliant book. It took me some time to familiarise myself with the characters as there are quite a lot and also going back months, weeks and years was a bit confusing initially. However it is so worth sticking with as it has so much intrigue, danger, romance, sadness etc etc.
The narrator’s interpretation of the characters is fantastic with clear differences between them all. It’s difficult to describe the story but it’s got everything and really is a must to listen to if you like a bit of tension, murder. secrets and lies etc etc.
I am now going to search for another of John marrs books.
