About this listen
All she wanted was the truth, but she'll wish she never found out.
When Catherine wakes up alone one morning, she thinks her husband has gone for a run before work. But Simon never makes it to the office. His running shoes are by the front door. Nothing is missing - except him.
Catherine knows Simon must be in trouble. He wouldn't just leave her. He wouldn't leave the children.
But Simon knows the truth - about why he left and what he's done. He knows things about his marriage that it would kill Catherine to find out. The memories she holds onto are lies.
While Catherine faces a dark new reality at home, Simon's halfway around the world, alive and thriving. He's doing whatever it takes to stay one step ahead of the truth.
But he can't hide forever, and when he reappears twenty-five years later, Catherine will finally learn who he is.
And wish she'd stayed in the dark.

You could anticipate them at least an hour before they happened and this made the ending a bit of a let down.
I also struggled with the actual characters, not warming to either of them meant although I was intrigued in the first half of the book, I found myself not much caring about what happened to them.
Although the two narrators did a good job individually, I found the two contrasting styles didn’t compliment each other, specifically concerning the accents they both used. I found it didn’t flow from one chapter to the next as they both had completely different sound and styles and for example the female character when voiced by the female narrator was a completely different style to when the male narrator said her parts.
Overall I was intrigued but let down by quite a bit of the story. It felt padded out with unnecessary information and details when the story needed to progress. 3 stars.
Not as good as expected for lots of reasons.

It was, however, an ok read/listen when not wanting to shout at my phone! I’m just glad I got it on sale.
A bit far fetched
