About this listen

Eleven years before they were framed for the murder of a king, before even assuming the title of Riyria, Royce Melborn and Hadrian Blackwater were practically strangers. Unlikely associates, this cynical thief and idealist swordsman, were just learning how to work together as a team. In this standalone first installment of The Riyria Chronicles, Royce is determined to teach his naive partner a lesson about good deeds.

"A Riyria Chronicles Short Story"
"Hair-raising escapes, flashy sword fights, and faithful friendship complete the formula for good old-fashioned escapist fun." ( Publisher's Weekly)

This was a most enjoyable distraction. And the humour brilliant as always. It is only short and proves good things come in small packages.

Learning a lesson cuts both ways..

Fantastic tales with memorable characters bought to life by probably one of the best narrators going. who could ask for more. I'm a long time fan of these books and I love the mostly contrasting attitudes of the two main characters. It was interesting to meet this tale of earlier times of their career together. Great stuff for fans of fantasy with lots of snarky attitudes and a pretty good sense of humour.

loved it

There is a good balance of the story. Action, drama, suspense, mistry, comidy and a lot more.

Excellent series. Not to dramatic.

Author says this is a taster for his series. The characters didn’t grab me and I won’t be buying the series.

I didn’t realise I was wasting a credit on a short story

Don’t bother purchasing this book as it is just a chapter from [THE ROSE AND THORN] book 2 in the Riyria Chronicles

just a chapter from [THE ROSE AND THORN]
