About this listen
In a world where zombies battle the living, which is more terrifying?
David is trapped in a nightmarish version of his hometown, pursued by crimson-eyed demons and insane cannibals, with no idea how he got there. At every turn, he's taunted by a mysterious youth named Simon, who knows far more than he lets on.
David's sister, Kate, fights for survival in a word decimated by flesh-eating zombies– and her brother's one of them. She's determined to put a bullet in David's brain to set him free.
Nicholas Kemp is a human monster, a born killer. But in a world ruled by the living dead, he's no longer the most feared predator, and he'll do whatever it takes to become that again. He plans to start by killing Kate....

Weird and surreal, a great take on zombies
A great take on the zombie apocalypse, surreal and strange at times, with lots of action and gore. Fits great in the Waggoner Mythos.
Gary Noon again delivers great narrations!

3.5 star story
Intriguing storyline and pretty entertaining take on the zombie apocalypse.
I enjoyed the POV swap between the humans (from Kate's pov) and the 'other' humans (from David the zombies pov).
OK, so now you're probably confused. Kate and gang are the human survivors, David and gang are the zombies, but from David's pov, they are the humans and the Survivors are red eyed Demons, Yes, I know, I can't explain it and nor can the book but it's pretty entertaining nonetheless.
The finale was, frankly ridiculous but satisfying enough and there's usually little realism to be found in zombie fiction anyway, because, you know, zombies!
The narration is great, 5 stars for that.

Original and interesting take on zombies!
This was a really interesting audiobook! First the narrator Gary Noon did a great job at giving life to the characters so believably.
Although it's a zombie novel it's not the usual plot and I really loved the different point of views of David, an unaware zombie, and Kate his sister who's still seems to retain a connection with his twin..
The parallel stories were also enjoyable, as well as the gory scenes!
Most of all I loved the ability of really making me feel I was in David's or the other people's shoes without feeling forced!
The best part though it has to be reserved to that ending, not only totally unexpected but very bizarre and believable at the same time (at least for me).
I think this is an interesting listen for everyone who loves zombies as a change from the usual zombie stories!

Very different take on the zombie genre
Very strong characters with deep and strong backgrounds some of the book is very graphic and gory i love the details that are given to the zombie outlook and perception of humans definitely a 3.5 maybe a 4 star story its almost close enough to be a 5 star but some points get knocked off for needless use of gore and vulgar things that are there just to flesh out (no pun intended) the horror but it doesn't side track the fact that this is one of the best/better zombie novels if you enjoy a good horror story that will have you wincing and at times feeling sorrowful then this will tick all the boxes for you all in all i did love this one
