About this listen

"Newsflash. You don't buy me, a$#%^*e. You earn me."

The bride is a doll. The groom is the perfect gentleman. But the rest of the wedding party? They're the stuff of nightmares. Rich? Check. Vapid? Double check. Entitled? Not enough checks in the world. And the best man? More like the worst man.

But maid of honor Franchesca takes her duties seriously. Kidnapped groom? She's got this. Rude attendees? You just watch her handle them. So a best man with a big attitude and an even bigger...checkbook? Yeah, there's no way she's going to let that pretentious, judgmental jackhole ruin her best friend's wedding. No matter how sexy he is. (Well, that's the plan anyway...)

Aiden Kilbourn doesn't do long-term relationships. He's busy ruling the business world, and has yet to find a woman he can tolerate for longer than a month, two at the most, anyway. Conquering the unconquerable is basically his bread and butter. And he hasn't met a challenge that he can't win. But Franchesca Baranski? This smart-mouthed girl from Brooklyn may just be his downfall.

A billionaire and a girl from Brooklyn

A compelling story

A bachelor high society billionaire and a girl from Brooklyn

Sparks fly when Aiden and Frankie aka Francesca first meet at her best friend's wedding. Frankie dislikes Aidens bachelor ways and his snobbery but the more they are thrown together the more she thaws and the chemistry sizzles.

Frankie is a down to earth girl working to pay off her loans whereas Aiden is rich, a well known high society bachelor with the paparazzi tracking his every move.

The story contains a love-hate relationship, and trust issues as Frankie has to learn to go with her heart, not her head and overcome the differences between them, their backgrounds, and the different lifestyles they lead.

It's a pretty woman kind of story.

I loved Francesca's older brothers in the plot too, with their typical, hurt my sister and we'll hurt you, capiche kind of brotherly warnings.

I really enjoyed it and once I got past the third person telling of the story which is always something I struggle with, I thoroughly enjoyed the plot and would recommend it although I do still wish it had been told in first person.

The narration was fantastic and really brought the characters to life in the conversation parts of the story.

🎧 Frankie and Aiden 🎧

Lucy Score wins again when a millionaire playboy meets a Brooklyn broad and gets his ass handed to him! 🤣
Mostly great narration - I especially liked Frankie's Mom.

The worst best slump buster

I'd kept thinking I should try Lucy Score's books, people kept telling me how good they were, I just wasnt sure. Then I hit a slump, I needed a book to listen to while I work, listen to while I travel, listen to while I relax.

At first I wasnt sure, I was still in the slump but then I began to be pulled in to the story. Better still, it built and built, Lucy could have stopped it around the half way mark and it'd have been fine but she didn't she just continued and developed and it grew and became so much more.

That slump has definitely gone, Lucy you pulled me out I'm off to find another of your books to get me through a week of exams :)

Enjoyable storyline

The story overall was very good with plenty of interesting characters and the developing romance between Frankie and Aiden. The narrator did well with the female characters but I feel the male characters could have been improved.

Good book

Another awesome story from this talented author. This book had it all. Drama, intrigue and lots of love. Plus it was pretty steamy to boot. Great characters and humour along with some appalling villains. Wonderful narration too
