About this listen

Bearded, bad-boy barber Knox prefers to live his life the way he takes his coffee: Alone. Unless you count his basset hound, Waylon.

Knox doesn’t tolerate drama, even when it comes in the form of a stranded, runaway bride.

Naomi wasn’t just running away from her wedding. She was riding to the rescue of her estranged twin, to Knockemout, Virginia, a rough-around-the-edges town where disputes are settled the old-fashioned way....With fists and beer. Usually in that order.

Too bad for Naomi, her evil twin hasn’t changed at all. After helping herself to Naomi’s car and cash, Tina leaves her with something unexpected. The niece Naomi didn’t know she had. Now, she’s stuck in town with no car, no job, no plan, and no home - with an 11-year-old going on 30 to take care of.

There’s a reason Knox doesn’t do complications, or high-maintenance women, especially not the romantic ones. But, since Naomi’s life imploded right in front of him, the least he can do is help her out of her jam. And just as soon as she stops getting into new trouble, he can leave her alone, and get back to his peaceful, solitary life.

At least, that’s the plan, until the trouble turns to real danger.

Everything!

After finishing this book there’s only two ways forward:
1. I re-read it over and over again
2. I need to find and live in a world where Knox Morgan exists
I see no alternative.

Overly long and clichéd

The immature characters, predictable plot which heavily relies on trobes and a struggle to finish. at least two subplots too many

Disappointed

It was an easy story to follow and listen too, but honestly very predictable. The characters who are in their 40's acted and talked like 20 year olds. some moments were far fetched. if not for the gripping narration I would have stopped.

Liked it

I suppose it’s because I’ve read books like this before, but it didn’t live up to the hype. I liked the grovelling a lot, it was better than most books that tried the same trope. I hope that Lucian gets his own story soon. The twists and turns were a nice filler for the romance although I did except one or two things. At the end of the day it was a really good read.

Can’t wait for the sequel!

Best Lucy Score book! I’ve heard there is a sequel following Nash’s story which should be out soon too! Genuine characters and great narration.

Slow start but picked up

It took me a while to get into the book and get invested in the story but when I did I really enjoyed it. It was recommended to me and perhaps it was it isn't my usual choice. I think I will continue the series.

Such a fun read

I first read this book in 2022 not long after it released and I loved it. This reread was done as a buddy read with a friend who hadn't yet read it as I've not completed reading the series so we decided to do it together. I had just as good of a time with it this time as I did the first time around. I really like Knox & Naomi, I love their sarcasm, banter, snark & chemistry throughout, i was hooked from the start and immediately interested and invested in these characters, side characters, story and the grumpy/sunshine small town vibes are immaculately done.

I love Lucy Scores writing style and I always have a fun time reading her books, Lila Winters & Sebastian York are perfect as Naomi & Knox they both do an incredible job delivering the deadpan snarky humour and more emotional moments. The chemistry and spice between Naomi & Knox is great and adds to the overall connection between them, the pacing was good and there was enough going on to keep the story moving forward. It was a 5⭐️ read back in 2022 and it stays that way now. I'm looking forward to getting to the next two books in the series. 🌶🌶

Great book

Wow. This book was so much more than I possibly could imagine. It broke my heart at times and also made me laugh. The characters were fabulous and entertaining. It had drama, suspense and love throughout and also lots of humour. Fabulous narration too
