Superb narration by the wonderful Hugh Fraser. His Ariadne is spot on and hilarious!!

A Masterpiece

Hugh Fraser narrates well, as usual. AC never got the hang of the 60s, it is fair to say. She obviously missed the era of chinless wonders (genre Bertie Wooster) empty-headed young women (still “girls” to her till at least 30), unearned incomes and debutantes. She still manages a crusty old soldier and colonial relatives. Drugs had long formed part of her repertoire, either as poisons or as recreation for the wealthy, but the 60s gave her a wider pharmacopeia. (I suspect she’s shocked that poor people began to use them, instead of being obsequious servants!)
She has acquired some Americanisms - I think it’s doubtful that many young men of that time wore “velvet pants” - I actually blushed!
It’s the performance of HF that brings me back to AC’s later, less successful works. Somehow it’s easier to suspend disbelief with novels set in a previous era - Arthur Conan Doyle strays far from the credible, for example - than in one’s own lifetime. I was too young to experience the 60s fully, although I did have droopy black hair, like one of the flatmates, but we began to be cleaner, thanks to washing machines, or laundrettes, more abundant hot water, having more clothes after rationing and its psychological aftermath.

A very enjoyable later novel. Agatha Christie is still at the hight of her powers. Also there are some nice comic moments featuring Ariadne Oliver.

Another great story from the Empress of Crime, beautifully presented by Hugh Fraser whose characterisations are pinpoint precise. Christie injects some wonderful moments of humour into her novels, especially those containing the magnificent creation, Mrs Ariadne Oliver. The twisting denouement is archetypal Christie at its best.

It was a little scary in places, totally loved it all. Plot, characters, narration super, Christie at her best!!!! Can’t recommend enough.

Hugh Fraser great as usuall about a girl that thinks she may have committed a murder.

As usual Audible spoils this by having Chapters inside of Chapters which makes it hard to navigate if you want to go to a certain chapter. They also spoil the end by practically cutting the end off by the usual Audible hopes you enjoyed this audio at least leave some space from the last word before you say this.

Great Agatha Christie novel narrated superbly by Hugh Frazer,
and if you're thinking 'Oh I've seen it on TV, well the ending in the book
is quite different from the TV episode, but just as great.
Highly recommended. Hugh Fraser 'Brilliant' as usual.

Poor Poriot gets upset when a young girl asks for his help, then she jumps up saying No you can can't your too old and runs away. Poriot is worried about the girl so he sets out to find her and sort out her problems ahhhh...
The girl thinks she's killed someone, she keeps losing track of time is she a killer or gone mad what is going on with her Poriot is determined to get to the bottom of this young girls situation. This is a really great audio book

I remember seeing an adaptation of this story on tv, and was expecting the same tale with some extra details. However it was quite different and much better! The characters are more closely examined, the plot contains more twists and it is a very good listen! On first listening the high pitch voice of Mrs Oliver is a bit irritating, but considering the range of characters voiced by the narrator this is a minor point, especially as by the end you have got used to it, and it seems to suit her character very well.
