Summary

Was it wrong to tell Beau’s mother he’s my boyfriend? Yes. Would I do it again? In a heartbeat.

The smokin’-hot fireman isn’t exactly in the closet, but he’s been keeping things quiet for years. I don’t do quiet.

All the guys in Hell’s Ankhor know I have to be true to myself. That’s why they call me Tru.

Beau and I are nothing alike. Doesn’t matter. The attraction between me and the fire chief is hot enough to burn.

But there’s danger in town, too much for us to get hung up on each other.

Yeah, too late for that.

Do I want to kill Tru for lying to my mom? A little. But the look on her face was worth the fallout.

The easy-going biker is nothing like me. He’s impulsive. Brash. Happy.

I’ve never dated another guy before, and I should probably walk away.

Too bad I can’t.

When we get wrapped up in an arsonist’s plot, I have to wonder if Tru wants me or an open flame.

My doubts are nearly enough to smother any ember of love, but I need to be stronger than that. Can we still make things work after all the flames are doused?

Tru has bad boys, bikers, and a fire chief finally ready to step all the way out of the closet and into the arms of his not-so-fake boyfriend.

Very enjoyable listen

I really enjoyed this story that starts with a fake relationship/date to a wedding, followed by a spark of connection and some real hot chemistry. The romance centers around the fire chief who is out, but doesn't insist that his mother acknowledge and respect his status or his occupation, and a member of the former Liberty Crew motorcycle club. To add to the relationship drama, there is also an arsonist on the loose, and he's escalating. Will they find the arsonist before anyone gets seriously hurt or will their love go down among flames of doubt and suspicion? I really liked the focus of the story being wider than the motorcycle clubs. The story still ties in with the preceding books, but it can be enjoyed as a stand alone. I am really looking forward to Joker's story on audiobook.

The narration was good, flowed smoothly, and really brought all the characters to life.

Feeling The Heat

Tru first spotted Beau when the clubs bakery had been on fire and then more often during the investigation that followed. They are attracted to each other but Beau doesn't date and his family dont accept his sexuality. Everything starts to change when Tru attends a wedding. David Allen Vargo did a great selection of voices in his narration.

another great listen

This series is great. I can't wait to see what happens with Joker. I do miss a background story evolving behind the main story but this book could be read as a standalone without listening to the others in the series.

Sweet, sexy, and surprisingly suspenseful

For a story that started off so fun and lighthearted, it sure did get scary towards the end. I was expecting the main storyline to be about how Tru and Beau's fake relationship turned into something real, but this book was so much more than that. Sure, the fake boyfriends situation was a big deal in the first few chapters, but where Tru and Beau really won me over was in the aftermath. These men were so much softer and sweeter than I'd anticipated, and I loved watching them carve out time for each other despite their busy schedules. Tru and Beau had insanely hot chemistry, and even though they didn't have much time together, the time they did get was spent thoroughly exploring each other's bodies. When the action picked up and things started to get strained between Beau and Tru, I have to admit that I was firmly on Tru's side. I find it harder to relate to guys who refuse to communicate openly, and Beau definitely fell into that trap over and over again. As the situation with the mysterious arsonist escalated, I was equal parts captivated and terrified to see just how bad the fires would get. These authors nailed the pacing of this storyline, giving me next to no clues about who the arsonist was until the climax of the story. Despite several minutes of increasing panic, this story did, thankfully, come to a satisfying conclusion. Beau and Tru's reconcilliation was everything I'd been waiting for, and their sweet love-making soothed any tension remaining between them. David Allen Vargo provided excellent narration to bring these men to life, and I love how each character had their own unique voice that expressed their personality.

Truly excelent

Super addition to the series by Aiden Bates & Ali Lyda. Tru was such a fantastic character to get to know. David Allen Vargo did a brilliant job with the narration. Now onto the next member to find a HEA.

Another Entertaining Listen

I was really looking forward to this audiobook. Aiden Bates likes to tease us a bit, at the end of his books. I was all about this pairing, and the fact that it was going to be explosive...in many ways. 🏍 👨🏼‍🤝‍👨🏻 🔥

I loved the banter between Beau and Tru. It amped up the UST tenfold. Those scenes were just fun to read. Is it surprising when fake turns to real? No. Is it still enjoyable to listen to? Heck yeah. These men had some chemistry; that is for sure. 🏍 👨🏼‍🤝‍👨🏻 🔥

It’s always great to see the side characters in the story. I enjoy that there’s an underlying storyline that continues through to the next book, or continued from the previous book, as well as the love story of our main characters. It’s hard to say goodbye to characters we fall in love with, and this way we don’t. 🏍 👨🏼‍🤝‍👨🏻 🔥

David Allen Vargo does a great job with the many different voices he created for the characters. He really brought the story to life, and I enjoyed listening to it. 🏍 👨🏼‍🤝‍👨🏻 🔥

Dramatic and fun

This story was exciting and adventurous, filled with spicy ness, love, and drama!

The narration was good, there wasn’t a whole lot of variety in the voices from man to man. And I felt like there was some spacing issues at times but over all it was pretty good. The words were clear, the dialogue expressive, and overall it was a solid piece.

Great book, great narration

Getting so involved in this series and the characters.

Great story on going, although I'm sure you could listen/read this book with out having read the earlier ones, but they are as goid as this one. The characters are very well written.

Hot fireman from a wealthy family and a member of the local bike crew. The two on paper shouldn't work but there was a spark. But who's responsible for the local arson.

Good narration, did speed it up a little as I normally do but only to 1.15.

How does a relationship with total honesty work?

I wouldn't want a boyfriend like Tru, he's a bit too open and honest for me, lol but he is exactly what Beau needs to finally face facts, come out of the closet and have the life and relationship he was meant to have. It took me a bit to warm up to these guys, but I really came to enjoy their relationship arc. The arsonist plot was well done and I found it quite suspenseful. This series has done an excellent job of integrating crimes of various sorts into the m/m romances. David Allen Vargo is doing an amazing job with these characters. He catches all the emotional nuances, the yin/yang of tough biker/softness and keeps each character's voice and personality easily identifiable.
