About this listen

A thriller in the lone ranger tradition of Jack Reacher, Mitch Rapp, and The Gray Man novels. The fast-paced, brutal action in the Blaze series is attracting thriller listeners worldwide.

Sometimes, anger needs to be unleashed.

Blaze gets a call from ex-US Marshal Mitchell. He has seen two ghosts roaming the streets of San Francisco. The Cady brothers. Ruthless arms traffickers and killers Blaze and his Marshals’ team had taken out two years ago. One brother, Carson, died trying to escape. The other, Dexter, killed a Marshal and barely stayed alive, once Blaze was done with him. Dexter ended on death row, awaiting execution.

When Blaze lands in San Francisco, he discovers he and his team are on the Cadys hit list. A gang of hitmen has taken the contract. They made a mistake. When the game becomes no holds barred, when nothing is off limits, there’s nothing to hold back Blaze’s fury.

Following the success of Blaze Returns, Lethal Force, Hard Target, and Mean Streets, Bill Runner is back with the fifth novel in the Axel Blaze thriller series. The fast-paced, brutal action in the series is attracting fans of thriller novels worldwide.

Another great thriller!

Blaze, the ex-special forces and ex-US Marshal, doesn't mess around when it comes to taking down the baddies. His hand-to-hand combat skills are off the charts in this one. Unchained Fury, the fifth installment in the Axel Blaze Series, has me totally hooked. In the past, I’ve enjoyed series set in specific locations but this one is different as each novel is set in a new city. This time, Axel's kicking butt in San Francisco.

The story kicks off with a phone call from Mitchell, Axel's former teammate from their Marshal days. He's spotted a couple of escaped criminals roaming the streets of the city by the bay. Axel reunites with his old crew, and the chase begins. What I loved about this book is its pace – it's like a non-stop adrenaline rush. Bill does a stellar job breathing life into his characters while keeping the story moving at lightning speed. Action and thrills are on the menu from the get-go.

I have this habit of picking up novels set in the city I'm vacationing in, and I'm already planning to revisit Unchained when I'm back in SFO next year. Charles Kahlenberg, the narrator, deserves a high-five for bringing the story to life with his engaging voice. Now, I'm counting down the days until the December release of the next book. The wait won't be long.

Outstanding characters, high-octane action and swift storytelling

Bill Runner delivers! Undoubtedly the series' finest installment thus far. Axel resumes his relentless pursuit of the villains, this time with a deeply personal motive. Uninterrupted action shifts from foggy San Francisco stakeouts to the blistering high desert with surprising twists and turns. Charles Kahlenberg masterfully builds the narrative to moments of intense suspense. Thoroughly enjoyed the climax.
