Summary

Ishmael Jones travels to the Scottish Highlands on a mysterious dual mission in this intriguing, genre-blending mystery.

The Organization has dispatched Ishmael and his partner Penny to Coronach House on the shores of Loch Ness, where the secretive but highly influential Baphamet Group are holding their annual meeting. The Organization believes an imposter has infiltrated the Group, and they have instructed Ishmael to root him - or her - out. It's not Ishmael's only mission. The first agent sent by the Organization has been found dead in her room, murdered in a horribly gruesome manner. Ishmael must also discover who killed Jennifer Rifkin, his fellow agent - and why.

Dismissive of rumors that the legendary "Coronach Creature" is behind Jennifer's death, Ishmael sets out to expose the human killer in their midst. But he must act fast - before any more very important people are killed.

Detailed but same story as book 1 and 2

Enjoyable to listen to, good narrator. Penny is very poorly written, most of the female characters are really. It's basically the same story though just repeated in different locations, even the method of killing is repetitive, how many headless corpses can one author write!

Interesting plot

Great mystery thriller, well written and excellently narrated. Definitely worth reading. The main character seems a little pompous and arrogant but still very likeable.

Intriguing!

At last an author with a full grasp of grammar!, who knows how to use"sat, sitting and seated"correctly. Also so refreshing to have an author who doesn't resort to the four letter words, so often used as normal in so many of contemporary novels, even those of well established writers in the quest for"realism ". The subtle humour of the main character made this improbable scenario seem fairly normal, though it's improbable denouement a bit disappointing.

Love this unusual series

I’m enjoying this series about Ishmael Jones an alien spy working for ‘the organisation ‘ and his side kick spy girlfriend Penny. There’s a lot to like crime, horror romance and fabulous characters. A bit of gore but with lighthearted humour. I really can’t peg this unusual series but I love it.

another cheesy but fun who dunnit?!

this must by fifth or sixth Simon Green Ishmael Jones book. I dip in and out every now and then. I'm not entirely sure what draws me to them but I do find them to be somewhat humorous with the tongue-in-cheek comments which make me snicker throughout! the narrator is frankly very annoying in his clipped RP English, but again, he is consistent across all the series which makes him bearable and part of the fabric of the story somehow!

easy amusing read and for the most part....included in the Audible catalogue.

Great narration

Interesting plot with well developed characters, which include the fantastical. Sympathetic leads. The narrator is a joy to listen to and he brings credence and the right tweek of levity to the writing. A pleasurable experience and unusual!

Love this series

Great detective series with a bit of a twist, some parts have a bit of gory details so be aware. there are other books, these are part of a series. I don't mind the companion. some parts of this book slightly contradict some things he said in the first. but maybe he's changed his mind/views.
