Summary

As Vita's humanity slowly drips away, monsters fallen from an island above spread throughout her home.

While she fights fellow horrors outside the city's walls, her family suffers threats from within them. Yet surely there's no problem power can't solve...and if there's one thing eating souls is good for, it's power.

Experience the adventure of this fantasy novel by Natalie "Thundamoo" Maher, uncovering the secrets of a massive world of floating islands and the dangerous entity known as the Mistwatcher that rests beneath them. Vigor Mortis 2 pairs adorable charm with deadly seriousness, an incongruous mix that pushes triumphantly forward despite the horror bearing down on all sides.

happy yet heart broken

Im a 40K fan. a big 40K fan so I'm no stranger to the grim and the dark yet somehow i was not ready for volume 2. the writing gripped my attention word for word. It stirred my inner terror as it went on yet still kept a vague hope that I continued to lose and got back over and over. I find myself dreading volume 3 with anticipation but it can not come sooner for me to pre-order. It is worth giving 5 stars.

Im angry, Angry about templars!

So I love this book, and the performance is stellar, Jessica Almasy really does a lot to Infuse a lot of scrappy underdog energy in the first book and only Improve the performance in the second one.
And the writing is Cynically entertaining and has that wonderful sense of both being a Powerfantasy while still conveying an underdog narrative. Even the changes of character give perspective especially in context.

So All good right. Well given the ending of the book I'd say Wait for the sequel to come out and if that isn't a recommendation I don't know what is, The Ending left me Angry angry about templars and wanting more.!
If you are like me and cant handle bloody cliffhangers. Give it a wait.

Very good

Since a it's a second book, you probably already know how good the story is. The second instalment is even better than the first!
My only problem is that the ending was kinda a cliffhanger. I'm still worried what did happen to the important souls by the end of the book. I hope that they're safe :D
I also checked out the author's websites, and the bad news is that the third book isn't ready yet 😭

Wish there were more books like this!

Never have I been so interested in the relationship of a "monster" and a human. It left me wanting more and sadly, I couldn't find any news but I'll be constantly checking for a new volume.

A little disturbing, and yet deeply human

Great continuation of this dark, endearing story

As in the first books, the MC is almost a psychopath, and yet you can't help but root for her.

It is probably good if some parts of this story makes you feel uncomfortable, but it is offset by some very real human moments.

This line between moral and amoral in a world that is ruthless and uncompromising is what really makes this series for me.

If you enjoy a character based, none-standard, morally conflicted 'hero' stories, this is well worth your time.

Exceptional Listern and heart warming

Im really enjoying how the story is coming along, I really am, the MC's growth being mixed into personal challenges as well as romantic challenges, its so well done and heart warming.

hands down though my favoret story from this volume, is Lark, just... wow.. the imagination to think up such a character and her challenges and growth, tis heart breaking at times, amusing at others and the climax at the end! ha! I really look forward to finding out what happens to her.

Darker than the first book, loved it.

a strong continuation from the first book, much darker in theme as well.

Some very poignant moments, with some good questions that I asked myself when the circumstances arrived.

Grief, PTSD trauma, mistakes, security, and strong writing about body dysmorphia built into a fantasy story that highlights but doesn't preach or be the focus of the narrative. There is heartbreak too, and loss.. Powerful story so be warned, but it was thoroughly rewarding.

The voice actor is a lot less frantic than book 1, with more focus on differentiating voices and inflections. It was easier to follow than the first book, and the VA certainly stirred my old heart with her voices of grief and pain. loved it

I can't wait for more!

I began with the first book on a complete whim and I won't lie I didn't think much of it, but thought the story and premise enough to warrant giving the second book a shot.
I could not be more satisfied with this decision! As in the second book I truly felt the characters grow along side the story progressing.
The first book felt a little like a filler arc for something, but in retrospect it is a very welcome set up to what is now one of my favourite series.
I cannot wait for future instalments and fully intend on seeing this story to its end.

I will restrain from giving anything away but the themes really hit home in the second book and I felt myself identifying with the characters a lot more than I normally do with most media.

A doubtless recommendation from me.
