About this listen
Beth Jamison had a rough start in life. She survived a childhood abduction, but her emotionally traumatic past still haunts her, and she suffers from anxiety and issues with intimacy. Beth doesn't know it, but the man who kidnapped her has just been released early from prison. When her brother hires McIntyre Security, Inc. to protect Beth and conduct surveillance on her kidnapper, she has no idea she has secret bodyguards keeping her safe 24/7.
With his money and good looks, CEO Shane McIntyre has never been short on feminine company, and he's developed a reputation as a "love 'em and leave 'em" kind of guy. But everything changes when Shane meets Beth. Their mutual attraction is instant and intense, and Shane falls hard for Beth. Shane has his work cut out for him if he's going to gain her trust and get past her fears before it's too late. This alpha protector is determined to keep Beth safe, but he's also determined to make her his.

Loved the book and love the audio
I loved this when I read it originally, I have not really listened to audiobooks since I was a child and would listen to them while doing crafts, but have recently got back into them. I had a couple of bad experiences with the voices annoying me, but this one was easy to listen to.
I do have an issue where I do tend to drift off when listening to things so the fact that I knew the story did help me as well, but would definitely recommend these to anyone.

enjoyable HFN - duet + story
Be aware this is part of a series and the plot and these characters continue into the next book. I'm not really a fan of duets or multiple books with the same characters but will still read them on occasion. I actually didn't know this was part of a duet + storyline when I started - oops. I wish this one would have been resolved in one book. I enjoyed it and think most romance readers that enjoy damaged heroine stories will love it. I will probably skim the rest of this couple for the side characters as they are more interesting at this point and I'm bored with Beth and Shane. I can't imagine what else can happen to poor poor Beth at this point.
I love love love Ava Erickson, she is my new favorite female narrator and will continue to try new authors with her narrations, but this audio could have been better with both male and female narrators.

I have read this book several times. I absolutely love the McIntyre Series. The audio adaptation by Ava is fantastic. It makes me want to re-read the series all over again. I can’t wait for the audio of Fearless.

Awesome Story & Narration🎧 Riveting & Heartfelt!
I loved everything about this book, from April Wilson’s wonderful writing style to the characters and storylines she created to the fabulous narration that brings it all to life from the pages to your ears. The story grabbed my attention immediately and captivated it for the entire book. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to, connect with and care about. Beth Jamison continues to suffer from nightmares and PTSD years after she survived a childhood abduction. Her protective older brother, Tyler, learned that her abductor, Howard Kline, was being released early from prison, but he withheld that information from Beth because he did not want her to worry. Instead, he hired McIntyre Security to keep her safe and keep eyes on the perpetrator. Shane McIntyre did not agree with Tyler about keeping Beth in the dark about it all, but he takes the job. Beth has learned to live with her anxiety, she has a great roommate, Gabriela, who is understanding and looks out for her and a job she feels safe in. Shane had had plenty of women in his life, none he wanted to keep, none that intrigued him like Beth did, he was not sure why, was it her innocence, her vulnerability or her strength to survive, he only knew the more he learned about her the more he needed to meet her which lead into needing to have her. Shane was so good to and for Beth, he was patient with her and gave her the time she needed to get into her comfort zone. He held back on telling her how he really came into her life, he planned to and had his reasons for delaying but he waited too long and it backfired. The security team keeping an eye on Howard Kline learn that he is up to no good and that he still has an interest in Beth which puts her in danger, she also has another problem, a student obsessed with her. There is never a dull moment in this book, the story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, heartfelt and emotional moments, some angst, action, twists and turns, thrilling suspense and a smoking hot romance. April Wilson, thank you for another awesome story and emotional rollercoaster ride, I am looking forward to what comes next for Shane and Beth.
🎧📚🎧 And for the amazing narration, Ava Erickson is a talented narrator and voice artist. She had a complete understanding of the characters she portrayed, gave each a voice that suited that character’s persona to a tee, she was believable in each role she played and sounded just as I pictured them to sound. You could hear how much heart she put into her work as she captured the characters’ emotions and projected them into her performance. She set the perfect tone for the story and handled the back-and-forth dialogue with ease, never missing a beat. Ava Erickson is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fabulous listen!

Fantastic
Vulnerable is a fantastic story well matched with a talented narrator.
Shane is adorably protective of Beth who is painfully afflicted with anxiety as a result of her trauma from being abducted when she was a little girl.
I could foresee a conflict in their relationship as soon as secrets were being kept from Beth and I waited for the inevitable third-act break-up. I was not expecting the dramatic and intense scene that followed quickly after. It was the first time in the book that I felt fear for her.
I liked the side characters, including Beth's brother Tyler who was over the top but had his heart in the right place. I also enjoyed Shane's feisty sister, especially when dealing with Tyler. I want to see more of these two.
The threat against Beth was not resolved at the end of this book so I immediately downloaded the sequel, Fearless.
