FROM THE #1 BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF THE THURSDAY MURDER CLUB

A brand new series.

An iconic new detective duo.

And a thrilling new murder to solve . . .

Steve Wheeler is enjoying retired life. He does the odd bit of investigation work, but he prefers his familiar habits and routines: the pub quiz, his favourite bench, his cat waiting for him when he comes home. His days of adventure are over: adrenaline is daughter-in-law Amy’s business now.

Amy Wheeler thinks adrenaline is good for the soul. As a private security officer, she doesn’t stay still long enough for habits or routines. She’s currently on a remote island keeping world-famous author Rosie D’Antonio alive. Which was meant to be an easy job . . .

Then a dead body, a bag of money and a killer with their sights on Amy have her sending an SOS to the only person she trusts. A breakneck race around the world begins, but can Amy and Steve stay one step ahead of a deadly enemy?

'The thing that shines through in Osman’s writing is that he really likes people and revels in all their foibles and eccentricities. All of which makes for a delightful read – and another little slice of warmth in time for autumn' THE OBSERVER

'This is a sitcom-meets-Bond, and a fine murder mystery’ DAILY EXPRESS

'Much as with the earlier books, I read We Solve Murders in a few pleasured gulps' SUNDAY TIMES

Editorial Review

A retired detective, a kick-ass bodyguard, and a cat named Trouble
I always feel a dash of anxiety when one of my favourite authors kicks off something totally new, but the fantastic new series starter from Richard Osman does not disappoint. There are some familiar tropes at play: retiree Steve Wheeler dabbling in investigatory work, a diverse cast of characters who come together over pints and trivia. But he ups the ante with Steve's daughter-in-law Amy, a truly hardcore veteran-turned-bodyguard who works for an elite protection contractor. And the murders these two find themselves needing to solve are epic and global in scale. In true Osman form, the dialogue is punchy, fast-paced and smart, making this listen completely impossible to put down thanks to Nicola Walker's adroit and vibrant narration. — Emily C., Audible Editor

Fantastic narration and enjoyable story

I really liked this book, finishing it in 2 sittings (well, walks and housework etc). The narrator read it perfectly.

I’m looking forward to this growing into a series as, like the previous books, the characters were likeable and I’m pinyin how they develop.

Fabulous

This book is fantastic, you’ll want to read or listen to it in one go I know I did.
It’s so funny and so much better than the murder club and I loved them! Can’t wait for the next instalment.

Done it again

After the Thursday Murder Club I wasn't sure if I was going to feel the same about this new group. No worries I'm hooked, can't wait for thier next adventure.

Loved it!

I was initially disappointed not to have the next instalment of the Thursday Murder Club but this new book from Richard Osman was an absolute treat! Excellent, extremely likeable characters and an exotic plot woven with the author’s characteristic wit that had me chuckling out loud at times. Can’t wait for the next book in both series now!

Loved it!!!

I don’t write many reviews, but after seeing some of the disappointing reviews here I felt I had to!
I absolutely loved this book! Great writing (obviously) great characters, fabulous narration. The only thing I’m disappointed about is I’ve finished it and will have to now wait for the next book lol!
Just a wonderful read (or listen)!

Didn't want it to end

I guess you either like it or not, and I loved it. Especially what's not there: Long sentences with lots of adjetives. And whether Osman writes about pensioners or bodyguards, it's the love of humans that shines through it all. Nicola Walker makes it all to music, so I'm already waiting for the next adventure!

Great story!

As a huge fan of Thursday Murder Club, I was waiting for the launch date. Great new characters.

Disliked: repeated “s/he says” in dialogue between 2 characters. Whether with audio or written form, it feels superfluous and jarring.

Look forward to the next one.

Another brilliant read

Richard Osman, yet again, had me caring so much for the characters almost from the get go. Bittersweet, funny and clever, I was once again furious I'd have to wait for the next installment, as I simultaneously cheered at the ending!

It’s really good…

It’s very good…

Not The Thursday Murder Club good, but really good all the same.

Really well written, no surprise there, and really well narrated too.

Nice one Richard.

Quirky and brilliant

Loved the different characters - please write the next one quickly because I want to know what’s next for Amy, Steve and Rosie
