Summary

A Small Town, Enemies to Lovers, Boy Obsessed, Found Family, Standalone Romance from USA Today and Amazon Bestselling Author, Laura Pavlov.

Ruby Rose declared me the enemy before I had a chance to defend myself.

I may be an attorney, but this girl had appointed herself judge and jury.

And I’d never minded a good verbal sparring.

There was a comfort in going to battle against the evil queen.

Maybe it was just the recognition of one damaged soul to another.

But the more we fought—the more I craved her.

Until our arguing turned into a bit of a wager.

One I was determined to win.

One time. Sixty seconds. A secret only we would share.

I’d work my magic and she’d declare me the winner.

I’d gloat, she’d sulk—that was my plan.

She was determined to prove me wrong.

But from the minute we crossed the line, there was no turning back.

She was so far under my skin I couldn’t think straight.

Feeling things that I’d never felt before was one thing.

But knowing the clock was ticking was another.

Ruby Rose may have given me more than sixty seconds, but she wasn’t offering forever.

And now my world doesn’t work without her in it.

But how do I convince her to stay, when she already has one foot out the door?

Laura Pavlov is the Queen of small town romance!

Wild River #2 in the Magnolia Falls series by Laura Pavlov

Audio review

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶️🌶️🌶️

Tropes

Small town romance
Enemies to lovers
Secret romance
Found family

Both narrators really brought this story to life. I absolutely love Laura Pavlov’s writing and the way she weaves her stories so beautifully.

River is a strong character who from a young age learned that it’s a risk to let people in, to love them. He has his core friend group, his ride or die and his grandmother but otherwise he holds people at a distance.

Ruby came back because her dad had a stroke. She hated returning to her home town to her family who always took from her. She loves them but it’s difficult.

I loved the push pull of Ruby and River. Their banter was spot on and made me laugh. I always find the group messages so funny and listening to the audio while driving to work made me look crazy. I’m sure but who cares?

They needed each other, they learned how to let someone in even if they didn’t label what was happening between them. They are both so stubborn that I wondered how they would ever make it but trust in Laura, she knows how to weave her story perfectly.

I highly recommend reading this small town romance, Laura is the queen of them.

Great performance

Audiobook review: Narrated by Desiree Ketchum and Aiden Snow
4.5 stars for story / 5 stars for performance

I enjoy the enemies to lovers aspect of this story as I felt they really didn't like each other at the start. Too many times we don't get the true animosity between main characters but that is not the case with this one. Ruby Rose is understandably not looking for a relationship but the chemistry between herself and River is just too good. The push pull between these two was super entertaining and made it so easy to get lost in the story. This group of friends from Magnolia Falls is such a tight knit group and I love the stories of their growth, both individually and in their prospective relationships. One of my favorite parts of these interconnected series is getting to catch up with previous couples. It's heartwarming to see the progress past their own books.

Desiree Ketchum and Aiden Snow were so good as Ruby and River. Listening to the banter between the main characters brought to life by such talented voice actors made this audiobook difficult to turn off. Listening to this was a true pleasure and can't wait to find out what happens in Magnolia Falls next.

another great small town Romance

Another great small town romance from Laura Pavlov.
The "icy" psychologist FMC comes back to town to look after her dad's business when he's unwell and soon starts butting heads with the lawyer mmc. The "hate" quickly turns to something else. Lots of great found family vibes.
Had a fair few "I hope no one can head my audiobook" moments on the bus with this one.
Unfortunate third act breakup.

Another winner! River is everything!

Another comfort read for me.
I've been listening to all of Laura Pavlov's series and they're just amazing, with that cozy feeling... like you could easily have a coffee date with any of her characters and it would be great! 😂😂

This second visit to Magnolia Falls bring us the delicious chemistry between River and Ruby.
Both damaged to relationships.
Both straight shooters.
Both with tons of trust issues.
Both hot stuff with so much in common, that they couldn't resist the pull, and surrendered to a 60 seconds, that became an one night stand, and then a summer fling.

Their bickering was as entertaining as River's dirty talk was smooth!
I love how Ruby started to open herself to the world, started to have a friend in Demi, and started to let go of all the weigh of her family.
I loved even more how River took care of everything, just so she didn't have to.
He was perfect boyfriend material, even if he denied.
And when he messed up?
The grovel was book worth it!
I want a yellow stick note too!

Beef cake stole my heart again!
This kid is something else 😂🥰.

How long until the next book?

Small town, enemies to lovers? Yes Please!

Laura Pavlov is one of my favorite small town romance authors, and visiting Magnolia Falls for the second time is nothing but a pleasure. After meeting Romeo in book one, I couldn't wait to meet the next in line of the five best friends. River is the man! Grumpy, but a heart of gold hidden underneath his gruff exterior has no intention of getting involved with anyone. But when he sees Ruby at the bar, his eyes are on her. Ruby is back in town while her father is recovering, running the bar and ready to spar. River is her target and this banter is nothing but incredible foreplay. And our story begins. Secret rendezvous, goals set for the future and most importantly, no catching feelings. But is that even a possibility? Advice from Romeo, Kingston, Hayes and Nash keep things humorous yet the best a "family" can give. Ruby is tough, thick skinned and always taking on the problems of her loved ones. River is learning there is more to life than his past and feeling love is oh so good. This is fabulous as these two find their way and into love.

Desiree Ketchum and Aiden Snow are an incredible narration team and are the perfect fit for River and Ruby. Aiden plays the broody man with a hint of vulnerability. Packed with confidence until he doesn't, River is realistic and lovable. Ketchum as Ruby is strong willed, tough and with a wall around her heart. Loved these two together and their performance is stellar.

loved it!

I'm kicking myself for not having read the first book in the Magnolia Falls series before reading this one. Not because they follow on but because I want more of this small town.
River is Ruby's dad best friend. They both hate each other at first meeting. The have this snarky banter together and it had me laughing so much. But behind that snarky banter was the off the charts chemistry. Both of them hadn't had the best family life, they kept their guards up around their hearts.
I was so invested in their story, I loved both of these characters. I also loved the small town and found family tropes that Wild River had.
The narration by Desiree Ketchum and Aiden Snow was fantastic and they really brought the characters to life.

Loved River and Ruby!

Wild River was an enjoyable listen! There was so much to love about this story - incredible main characters, a great cast of side characters, a sweet and swoony story, fun banter, and amazing narration. River and Ruby had a great meet-cute and a story that had me smiling while reading—an incredible addition to this series and already looking forward to the next book.

Narrators Desiree Ketchum and Aiden Snow's voices sound great together and I felt they were cast perfectly for these characters. Their stellar performances really made the story pop and brought it to life for me. I highly recommend the audiobook!

Wild River

Finally back in Magnolia Falls!!!
This fits for Ruby too, although she doesn't know it for a long time that she is finally home.
She helps in her dad's bar, because he had a stroke. But she doesn't expect to fall in love.

And River... well... we met him already in book 1 and I couldn't wait for his story.
I love him! He is grumpy and broody, but oh so s3xy.
He made a big development in his life and has now a successful career as a lawyer.

Both, Ruby and River are independent and think they live a happy life alone. Until they make an agreement.

Again a great story by Laura I can definitely recommend.

Perfection!

Wild River is one of my favourite books this year so far, and I’d go so far as to say it’s one of my fav romances ever! This enemies to lovers, boy obsessed, small town romance is full of heart, humour, found family and the most delicious spice and it gave me all the feels!

If reading it was good, the audiobook takes it to a whole new level. The narrators perfectly brought Ruby and River to life and captured the emotion, humour and conflict of their narratives. Aiden Snow’s gravelly baritone was to die for and never failed to raise the hairs on the back of my neck, especially during ‘those’ scenes! And Desiree Ketchum’s portrayal of bad a$$, sharp witted Ruby was perfection.

One of my favourite features of Laura’s books is the humour and hearing the guys’ group chat and banter narrated had me cackling out loud. This certainly drew a few glances when I was walking down a busy street on my way from work!

The Wild River audio is a captivating, entertaining and moving listen, that will put a smile on your face and a blush on your cheeks! Download this one today - you won’t regret it.

I loved River and Ruby!

I love a good enemies to lovers romance and this one was *chef’s kiss*. This small town romance had all the banter, chemistry, spice, and emotions I’ve come to expect from a Laura Pavlov book and I was not disappointed. I had such a hard time pausing this book.

River and Ruby were wonderfully complex characters with phenomenal chemistry, intense attraction, and captivating banter. These two characters had difficult pasts and to see them healing from their traumas was such an important thing for their relationship.

This book was so beautifully written and the narrators just made it so much more enjoyable. Aiden Snow and Desiree Ketchum were phenomenal in voicing River and Ruby and I could not get enough of this book!
