About this listen
The fabulous stylist, the absentminded professor, and a Parisian adventure…
Winnie
Someone once said, when life gets you down and you’re feeling blue, brush yourself off and go to Paris!
Okay, maybe that was me.
Hey, I don’t regret taking an oddball assignment to assist a British professor abroad. I could use a break from my life as an aspiring hair and style guru in LA. The only worrisome snag is that the professor is determined to do everything on his own.
Not acceptable. I’m here to help the impossibly smart geek with mismatched socks who just happens to be my best friend’s boss.
No, I don’t know nothing about history, but I’m nothing if not resourceful. What could go wrong?
Alistair
I’ve been called an absent-minded professor more than once. I don’t mind at all. My work is important and living on a diet of biscuits and tea while delving into ancient civilizations doesn’t seem so terrible. But Paris calls. And somehow, I have a new temporary assistant.
Winnie is a technicolor, whirlwind American with a wicked laugh and the subtlety of a steamroller. He’s brash and ridiculous and…funny, warm, lovely, and—
Oh no. This can’t be happening. I swore I’d never fall for anyone again.
Winnie can take Paris, but he can’t take my heart.
Or can he?
Winnie Takes Paris is an MM romantic comedy featuring a fabulous diva, a nerdy professor, and the Parisian adventure of a lifetime!

Great audio
This was an utterly charming read, at a time when I really needed something low-angst and funny. Winnie is delightfully extra, and I really enjoyed the opposites-attract dynamic he had with the equally delightful Professor. Both of them were easy to connect to, and the book was full of cuteness and funny moments. I really really enjoyed this one, and I was able to read this when everything else seemed too stressful and complicated. Definitely recommend for anyone who needs a Parisien mini-break. I got this on audio as soon as it was available, and it's amazing on audio, I really loved listening to it. This kind of banter is made for Joel, and he has perfect comedic timing.

Lovely romance!
5 Stars
I absolutely loved this opposites-attract romance. Winnie and Alistair are as different as they can be, Winnie is loud and proud, but stuck in a work that's going nowhere fast, and Alistair is a top academic in his field, but he needs someone that helps manage his life while his assistant (Raine) is on vacation. As they get to know each other, though, they realize they're just perfect for each other, bringing out the best in each other.
These two had amazing chemistry and were so sweet together. I loved how they discovered things in each other that they had been looking for.
A sweet and hot, low-angst romance penned by Lane Hayes and superbly narrated by Joel Leslie that I have no trouble recommending.

A truly romantic story
This was so cute! Even more-so than I expected! As always Joel Leslie does a really great job of narrating both characters, especially Alistair.
I loved that the MCs were 35 & 44 and acted like it! I also chuckled when a side character told Alistair (44) that Winnie (35) was “too young for him”, I’m 34 so I took that as a compliment 🤣
Lane Hayes’ writing style is always a great blend of romantic swoon & banter, and even though this is a “shorter” story, the romantic connection between Winnie & Alistair was really well developed.
It was very nearly a five star listen but there was one little side plot that wasn’t my favorite. But overall I really enjoyed this book!

A gtreat listen
I started reading this and the immediately swapped to listening and started again when I got my grabby paws on the audio. I do love me a Joel Leslie audiobook, he just adds an extra layer to a book I was already enjoying.
I read, and loved, the first book in the series but I don't think it's necessary to read that one to enjoy this.
This is a complete opposites attract book. And they don't come more different than flighty, fabulous Winnie with his amusing malapropisms and Alistair, the archetype absent minded professor, so hyper-focused on all things ancient that he forgets to eat, dresses in shades of beige, and constantly loses his phone.
It's lovely to see Winnie exploring Paris and gradually pulling Alistair out of his shell. And of Winnie taking time to appreciate parts of Alistair's world but in a very Winnie-like way.
A great read in whatever format you chose.

Great easy, steamy listen
I got swept up in this story, so much so that I listened to it in a day. Winnie was so charming and Alistair was the perfect match for him.
Asked to be Alistair's assistant for a month in Paris, Winnie gets to enjoy the city but also falls in love with the place and the man. Alistair needed someone like Winnie, someone unapologetically themselves. He brings color and life into his world.
A little ex drama, but nothing huge and a very sweet ending. I would say this can be read as a standalone, too, as Raine is only on the page a few times.
The steamy scenes were well written, and the narration was great for the entire book. I do like Joel narrating British characters.
Really enjoyed this one.
