About this listen
When you buy murder online, who is there to stop you?
GCHQ agent Winter has just 14 days to bring down the website of a formidable criminal organisation before a teenager is tortured to death in front of an online audience of millions. Going deep under cover disguised as the paid assassin Snow White, Winter must infiltrate the inner circle of the extraordinarily powerful man at the heart of the dark web. This is a gripping, fast-paced ride through a disturbingly plausible technological future in which Callister’s protagonist must battle to bring down the terrifying crimes tearing through society.
About Winter
Master hacker, highly intelligent, combat trained: Winter is a very modern spy. Worlds apart from the straitlaced characters created in the minds of Ian Fleming and John le Carré , Alex Callister's lead protagonist wouldn't dream of playing the part of the impeccable agent. However, despite her intimidating skillset, Winter is delightfully human and often prone to prioritizing her libido over her employer. Undeniably sexy and exceptionally accomplished, Winter is a true 21st-century heroine.
About the Author
Alex Callister is the pseudonym of an industry expert on media, telecoms and internet stocks. She studied history at Oxford and the British School at Rome and was set for a career in academia until the beginning of the tech boom woke a lifelong interest in internet shares. Alex has spent her career visiting high security web hosting sites and speculating on what might go wrong. Winter Dark is her debut novel and the first in the Winter series.

Gripping and charming
You can’t help but fall for Winter’s unusual charm as we follow her adventures through a story of twists and turns. The exceptional narration is key to the ease with which I could follow the story - I was so unbelievably immersed in this other world. Escapism at its finest.

Fantastic punchy far fetched thriller, loved it !
It's pretty much James Bond but with a large dollop of racy sauce. I don't think this takes itself particularly seriously and it's all ab it far fetched but it's a really fun listen with some great fights, chases and some twists and turns. I'm pretty sick of "Gone Girl", "Girl on the Train" stuff that takes itself far too seriously and under delivers every time, I'm far happier with 10 hours of page turning action, spend a credit on this, you'll love it.

Clever clever writing
This is Black Mirror Meets Bond territory. Winter is a plausible punchy hero who exists in a terrifying reality. Slick clever writing. 'Thriller of the Year' may be a bold claim, but Callister delivers here.
Utterly un-put-downable this is a must purchase new release. Great to see Audible releasing such a compelling Original.
Can't wait for the film - or better still the sequel. Ell Potter's narration was bang on the mark bringing all the characters believably to life.
Go Winter!

Really exciting story
We listened to this over the course of a holiday involving many hours of driving and it was brilliant entertainment. Every time we stopped we were left wanting to know what would happen next! Would recommend if you like thrillers.

An illicit romance at the heart of a dark thriller
I don’t normally read thrillers but the trailer and blurb on this one promised a strong female secret agent character to rival Bond or Bourne so I thought I would give it a go. The action takes place across a series of glamorous (and some not so!) glamorous locations all vividly described. The heroine has virtually superhuman abilities and a penchant for sex and violence. There are many twists and turns as we travel through the criminal underworld with our larger than life heroine, while she tries to discover the identity of the ‘Prince of Darkness' and stop the threatened televised terror from going ahead.
This is a vision of a dystopian near future where the darker side of the web predominates. But it is also a thriller with a love story - albeit not your average love story! The romance side is accentuated by the fairy tale elements which I did not expect - Snow White obviously, but also Bluebeard in his castle, the mirror, mirror elements, and hints of beauty and the beast - all with a dark twist.
All in all a gripping piece of story-telling.

Better than I expected
Thrillers are.not usually my type of read/listen but I thought I would give the thriller of the year a go and it didn't disappoint. Twists and turns, confusion, guess work which could turn out to be right or wrong. Maybe I will give a few more thrillers a read.

Brilliant, Gripping!
Excellent story, frightening concept. Winter is a brilliant character. Incredibly strong, feminine and deadly, you would not mess with Winter! Worth noting, not to be listened to if your mother-in-law is around! 😟
