About this listen
The time has come for Leman Russ, primarch of the Space Wolves, to fulfil his vow and attempt to stop Warmaster Horus before he breaks through to the Segmentum Solar.
In the face of opposition from three of his brother primarchs, Russ withdraws the Space Wolves legion from Terra and makes all haste for Horus’ position. Reports from Malcador the Sigillite’s agents suggest that Horus is utterly changed and infused with a diabolical power so great that no man can stand against him. A warrior of Fenris would never willingly abandon his oaths, but with Horus beyond the touch of mortal blades, the Lord of Winter and War may have doomed himself for the sake of honour....

Incredible
This is one of the best in the series, hands down. I didn’t think the Space Wolves could be redeemed after their previous actions, but Guy Haley does an amazing job at making the listener/reader see things from their point of view. Also, Keeble will forever be the voice of Leman Russ in my mind - stellar performance. Space vikings doing what space vikings do. 10/10.

A Great Major Entry to the Horus Heresy
not a big fan of the Wolves but this book has made me warm to them. In love with Cawl's sub-plot.

Not one to skip
There are some lame ducks and filler books in the heresy series here and there.
This isn’t one of them.!!!
A great job from the narrator too. Hence the 5 stars.
Not the best in the series but one of the better ones.

Great book
After having listened to so many in the series, wolfsbane was like a B12 shot of badass much needed. An engaging book from the get go, shedding some interesting light on an interesting primarch. The fatalism of what Russ wants to do is prevalent throughout as it leads up to the final conflict. If you’re a Space Wolf fan you’ll love it but this one is in the top ten for the series and worth a read even if you’re not a fan of the space Vikings.

Fabulous and wonderful
Gripping from start to finish. The end is wonderfully handled and the narration really brings the characters and situation to life.

Good but strategically flawed
Another excellent addition to the Horus Heresy. Well performed and written, with nods to Cawl’s younger years an entertaining distraction.
However, as others have said, Russ’ motivations for his action suffer from Deus Ex Machina and the need to have him gone. Guy Haley does brilliantly however to create an engaging story and list of characters. Well worth your time.
Also worth reading in order to be able to laugh at and Space Wolf fan that tells you Russ beat Horus in this book.
