Summary

"I'm going to die a hundred years before I was born...."

The handwritten note was in a dusty trunk that sat in a cave untouched for 150 years. What did the words mean? When journalist Ray Burton finds the trunk near the Arizona ghost town of Hollow Rock, his life changes in an instant.

Something in the trunk shouldn’t be there.

This begins a dangerous journey of discovery bordering on the impossible. A discovery that will affect the past, the present, and the future.

Story is fine - audio narration is dreadful

Tried the Audible version and had to give up as the narration was one of the worst I have heard and was a real barrier to enjoying the book. Ended up getting it on Kindle and really enjoyed it then.

Entertaining old school sci-fi

Reminiscent of Heinlein's "The door into summer" . A simple story (by time travel standards) well told. Narrator was very good despite the attempted Brit - "ish" accents. Very enjoyable.

Right place. Wrong time Right time Wrong place etc

A good story but too many coincidences & too easy solutions. But there’s time travel for you. A comfortable read if your new to this type of fiction not too many scientific theories or altered timelines, or is there?
I’m not sure if I’ll venture to the next book as the final scenario and how the individuals “arrive” at their location, it’s history and their communication inspires me for more!

Definitely worth listening to.

An easy listen and a good story. The plot was easy to follow and although a little predictable in places there was still plenty to grip the imagination. Unfortunately for me the narrator was a little robotic which didn't spoil anything but certain words or script didn't flow quite as my ears expect which made me wince a tiny bit but like I said it doesn't spoil anything and the problem could easily be me not the narrators skills.

a good read I thought very descriptive and does make you ponder what it would be like to go back and forward in time!

An easy listen.

Not the best time travel novel I've ever listened to, but entertaining enough to finish it. Narration was a bit staccato in places... and the English accent was terrible... more of an Aussie twang... but all in all, an easy listen whilst dog walking .

Terrible narration but the storyline saves it.

The story was interesting enough to make me endure the awful narration. If I had listened to a sample, I would not have purchased it.

Unbelievably bad narration

I found it difficult to get through the first few pages of Yestertime because of the narration. If it's not AI-generated, it's easily the worst I've encountered. The constant misplacement of emphasis on words was distracting, to say the least. At one point, the narrator pronounced "escape" as "ecscape," making me suspect a typo in the text—something a human reader would likely catch or at least pronounce correctly regardless. This only strengthened my suspicion that the narration wasn’t handled by a real person.

Since I'd already spent a credit on the book, I decided to push through. I'm now about halfway through and, while the story itself is intriguing, the writing leaves much to be desired. It's just not as polished as I had hoped.
