About this listen
It was intended to eradicate the common cold; instead it eradicated most of the human race.
A genetically modified virus killer mutates, transforming everyone it infects into zombies. As it rapidly spreads across the globe, small groups of survivors battle to stay alive and escape the growing hordes of flesh eaters.
Tom, Becky and their two children are on a family holiday when the virus hits. Follow them as they try to fight their way to safety, gathering others along the way. They soon realise that their best chance of survival will be to reach an ancient symbol of power and strength. Their future and safety lie behind a castle’s walls. Together they must undertake a daunting 100-mile journey.
Will they make it?

A different angle on a well covered genre
As the title says its a different angle basing it round very unlikely heroes and still being a good listen.
Narrator is not bad just occasionally puts inflection (is that the right word?.... the point of the phrase that needs expressing but said at the wrong point) in to the wrong word or uses the wrong tone of voice causing a relisten to see why the change....
However its modern and mentions a lot of places by name which is quiet amusing given I drive the UK non stop and listen as I go and know the junctions mentioned etc.
Good enough for me to have bought the next 2 in the series anyway.

excellent listen!!!
there are 4 books in this series and i binge listened my way through them al.
it's a feel good zombie listen. I laughed at points and enjoyed the British sense of humour and how the characters poke fun at each other.
I love that the characters are just normal people. I loved how the virus cause was covered.
it's in my top 3 listens

Brill !
A really excellent read set in the UK - and I am finding myself enjoying more and more UK based post apocalyptic fiction.
This is a fast paced and enjoyable listen, with good characters and excellent interaction between them. I am really looking forward to listening the next one (which I have downloaded already)
I strongly recommend the "UK dark - Am I a prepper" series written by Chris Harris

not quite shaun of the dead, but...
... i guess it'll do. love the country accent of the prepper, it's the perfect juxtaposition. and the brummie accent of other characters is also a pretty good little quirk - unexpected. made me chuckle

Not great, but if you like zombie cliches it’s fine
Not very well written or narrated, but will pass some time if you enjoy the cliches of zombie fiction.

Disappointed
To be fair I'm only an hour or so in but the narrator is ruining it for me. The story is exactly what I expected and ticks all the boxes but the delivery is just awful. The narrators voice is completely the wrong for this genre. His voice is suited for children's bedtime stories not horror. It's like he's talking to five year olds trying to get them to sleep. It's a shame because I'm not going to buy anymore in this series because of it and I think the writer deserves better.
