Summary
The business of love is dangerous.
For Jennifer Kent, a recent MBA graduate who has been searching for work in Manhattan for four long months, time and money are running out. If she doesn't find work soon, she'll need to return to her native Maine, where the job situation is even more bleak.
But when an unorthodox arrangement is proposed, Jennifer decides to take it. She agrees to be the "girlfriend" of Alexander Wenn, the reluctant, billionaire CEO of Wenn Enterprises, who is so devastatingly good looking, he needs a beautiful woman like Jennifer on his arm to "keep the wolves at bay."
In this case, the wolves are other women, all of whom vie for his attention so aggressively, they keep him from focusing on business at the exclusive events he must attend. It's there that deals are cut. What they want is his money and his power. Damaged by a past event, the only thing Alex wants to do is focus on work. And to forget the past.
But can Jennifer deny their white-hot chemistry? As she's swept into this glittering otherworld of society and big business, she finds herself struggling to keep from falling for Alex, an almost impossible feat she nevertheless must meet.
Armed with her MBA, Jennifer Kent knows about business. But what she doesn't know is what could destroy her - the business of protecting her own heart. And maybe her own life when it's put on the line time and again.

Excellent all books together! Thanks
Would have loved to have read about the wedding. Sometimes when they went out for dinner it was not very clear why they only had drinks and not eaten before they left

The performance, although I normally read dual characters as I like to get into both heads.
Yes, the story was very good although as I said above I like to get into both heads which for me seemed lacking. Overall, I enjoyed it. Well written. Well read and Well done.

Don’t read this unless you’re so bored you have no choice
This is genuinely one of the worst stories I’ve listened to and I’m questioning if the reviews have been bought and / or are driven by bots given how bad on so many levels this story is.
The combination of the narrator, who has THE worst self-obsessed voice for this character where you just want to scratch Jennifer’s eyes out and so you wonder if Reba’s (the narrator) taken a “If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em” attitude when narrating and gone full toxic Barbie, and the writing being just that bad that there’s no coming back from it leaves you as the reader feeling a little creeped out and a lot cringe.
But seriously, the combination of the narration, non-existent character arcs, done-to-death tropes and bazillions of cliches and this series is just utter tripe.
17+hours of watching paint dry would be preferable to reading this.
Alex has no depth or intelligence and I started questioning from early on how the hell he runs his company and keeps it successful. Particularly when Jennifer comes up with an AMAZING idea ‘spur-of-the-moment’ because she’s so ‘clued-up’ about business after never working and just finishing her MBA but one that Alex ‘never would have thought of’. Like, give me a break…and some credit as a reader.
We’ll skip over Jennifer’s faux humility. It’s beyond boring now with a protagonist who is so oblivious to their own beauty yada yada yada.
I spent my time either cringing or eye-rolling. There are better books out there for you to spend your time on.
