Summary
The paranormal? It’s all nonsense, but proving it might get them killed
In the brooding, dark landscape of England, with its rolling hills and forgotten castles, the dark breeds evil in every shadow. Well, almost every shadow. Some of them have stupid in them instead.
With thousands of books sold, the Blue Moon Investigations series will grip you from the start and rob you of sleep as you continue listening until well after your bedtime.
When Steve Higgs writes, he hits it out of the park! I find myself laughing loud and often.
Paranormal Nonsense - falsely advertised as a paranormal investigator, Tempest Michaels has a serial killing vampire to track down and a poltergeist to catch...because he’s staked his reputation on proving none of it is real.
Helped by disillusioned cop, Amanda Harper, the duo is not only pitted against a brotherhood of vampire wannabes, but also a desperately ticking clock when one of his friends is taken.
He’s got all the help he could need and more, though, as his friends, his mum, and his dogs are pitching in!
The Phantom of Barker Mill - a hundred-year-old mystery proves irresistible for England’s only paranormal P.I. It looks like the perfect case...but someone, or perhaps everyone is lying to him.
As he closes in on the truth, he is led into a race against time that may cost him more than he is willing to pay.
Oh, and his mum wants him to organize a baby shower.
If you are a fan of fast-paced paranormal thrillers, then this urban fantasy series is sure to please.

if you can get over constant misogyny in the first few chapters, it's not a terrible book. However, the constant judgement, slurs, and more misogyny continues...

Not the best
Anyway. The narrator is very bland and boring. it sounds like he is reading to children. Anyway. The story is very slow moving. Anyway. I am giving up 2 hours in. Anyway. Yes there are a lot of 'Anyway's' in this story so far! Sorry, wouldn't recommend, might be better with a different narrator?

Bad narration, poor editing, not that funny.
Had to give up on this book. Firstly, the narrator has a very monotonous style and does not really understand the meaning of pace as he reads at me spear. Secondly, the editing is very poor. On occasions, the narrator has stumbled or had to break off and the editing should cover that up so it appears seamless but the break is very obvious, with some instances where the sound echoes because the microphone is incorrectly positioned and there is even an occasion when you hear the narrator turning the page.
Lastly, the book is not that funny or interesting. It has some amusing moments, but only to raise a slight smile and nothing I consider laugh out loud. Sadly it reached the point where I realised my attention had drifted and I did not know what had just been read out and, worse, I did not care.

Good story line ruined by poor narration
This book got our attention from the beginning. Two things spoiled it one was the long winded pieces of over polite narratives. The second was the dreadful narration.

Might be worth reading the book
Sorry to say the narrator is dreadful. I've tried to cope with him but have given up. The story might be really good, but I've not got beyond the first chapter.

Disappointing
I had read that this was a great book and that Higgs was the next Pratchett. Clearly a lot of hype.
The story was original, but writing the style is that of a teenage boy and half the story is about the protagonist’s sex life and the author was clearly working out some fantasies by writing this. I direct you to the writings of Ian Fleming for how this should be handled and not the short stories in Playboy magazine.
The performance compounds the inadequacies of the story by Peter Fullagar recording his monotone recital in his garage using his laptop microphone, or so it sounds.
Add to that the irritation that Peter Fullagar has a BA and an MA in English, both Literature and Language, yet his pronunciation of soft vowels where they should be hard beggars belief.
If you are curious the I would buy the books, it would halve the disappointment and provide you with a handy coaster at the end.

Miss sold do not think it can be compared to work by Terry Pratchett.
The main character is entirely unlikeable, he is masoganistic, sex obsessed and likes to body shame. The person reading it is also not engaging. If you can get passed those thing the stories themselves are good. Probably won't be buying more of this though.
