About this listen
I live by one simple rule: my daughter and baseball are all that matter. Until I get traded to the same team my unforgettable vacation fling works for.
I wanted Willow Lawson from the first second I saw her, and once we gave in to temptation on the sunny beaches of Hawaii, I knew I’d never forget her.
But our fling was meant to be just that. A hot vacation hookup and nothing more. After all, she’s got a rule too:
Never date a baseball player.
When my agent lands me the deal of a lifetime with the Vancouver Tridents, it seems like the perfect move.
Until Willow walks into the conference room on my first day, and I realize maybe this time, our rules were meant to be broken.

Single Dad, workplace romance and Baseball...oh my
Break The Rules, book 1 in the new Vancouver Tridents Baseball series, brings us the story of a swoony single father who finds out his vacation fling (and the woman he can't stop thinking about) works for his new team! I feel so lucky and grateful to have received a copy of this book (thank you!) because Willow and Ronan have such great chemistry and I loved getting to be a fly on the wall of their HEA 🤗 I love Willow's story & completely fell in love with her character in Tori's book. She's a little sassy but sweet and watching her fall for Ronan and his little one Peyton was so much fun! I really feel like this story sets up the next few books well (I'll have to wait and see if I'm right 😆). I can't wait for more from the Tridents!
I first read this one with my eyes, and recently got the opportunity to read with my ears and I was so happy with the narration! Angelina and Connor are both great in this! Their performances bring so much to the story and really helped me slide back into these character's lives. Connor was very well cast as single dad Ronan, struggling with what he can't have with Willow while trying to be everything and everyone for his daughter. Angelina's performance as Willow had me in all my feels. She did a wonderful job pulling us in with her for Willow's emotional journey.
4/5 story, 4.5/5 narration

Feel-good sports romance
This book had me hooked from the beginning. It was my first Julia Jarrett book and I will definitely be continuing the series. They meet on holiday and have a very brief fling, and then he gets traded to the team she works for as an assistant director of Media Relations. Their airport meet-cute was delightful and jealousy-inducing.
Ronan is such a sweetheart. He’s thoughtful and protective and such an amazing dad. And he’s great at communicating! Willow is a strong, driven career woman who is not afraid to fight for her place in a male dominated industry, but is also very caring. I loved seeing how well she fit into Ronan’s life with his daughter.
The spice hits early and then it cools down for a while but the chemistry between Willow and Ronan is undeniable. In and out of bed these two are made for each other.
The side characters added depth and humour to the story. It was endearing to see how they supported Willow and Ronan as they tried to navigate the new challenges in their lives. Willow’s relationship with her uncle was particularly heartwarming. I also loved how the author built up our interest in Maverick throughout the story. It’s obvious there’s more to him than meets the eye and now I’m dying to read it.
The narrators did a phenomenal job. My main motivation for choosing this book, Angelina Rocca and Connor Crais did not disappoint. Connor embodied Ronan’s cinnamon roll personality flawlessly with his smooth, soothing voice. His portrayal of ‘passionate, dirty talking Ronan’ was equally captivating. Angelina Rocca is one of my favourite female narrators for dual narration because she does and amazing male voice. Her portrayal of Willow multi-layered personality was a treat.
This book is for you if you’re looking for a feel-good sports romance with insta-lust, low angst, lots of banter, swoon and heat, great side characters and a bit of workplace drama.
Also, if you’re like me and you like to read the side characters’ stories, Willow’s best friend Tori’s story is book 6 in the Donnellys of Dogwood Cove. Of course, I’m gonna have to read that whole series now.

Phenomenal duo!!
*Sports (baseball) romance
*Single-dad
*Workplace
*ONS to second chance
I loved how this story starts out, with both main characters entering into a vacation fling with no plans to reconnect. I've been on a single-parent kick lately and this one has been one of my favorites. Ronan and Willow have great chemistry, and the timing of this storyline flowed beautifully. Willow's connection to the team Ronan plays for added an additional layer that kept my interest peaked throughout and in combination with the talent of the narrators, I couldn't turn it off.
Connor Crais is an instant listen for me. The tone of his voice is so beautiful, it’s no hardship to listen for hours on end, just lost in the stories he reads. Angelina Rocca provides each character such dynamic personality. The smallest nuances in her voice are delivered with so much talent I find myself pausing just to appreciate her work.
I can’t wait to continue this series!!

4.5 Stars!
I heard this was a sports, workplace, single-parent romance… and I just couldn’t resist! 🙈
Ronan and Willow originally have an awkward, yet funny meet-cute at the airport (and later on the plane) on their way to their vacation. Ronan is a single dad and a professional baseball player and he is on vacation with some friends without his daughter. Meanwhile, Willow decided to take some time off work to relax and rejuvenate. They end up at the same hotel in Hawaii and Ronan is immediately drawn to Willow. He thinks their constant running into each other is some sort of fate. Willow, however, is a bit more hesitant. See she recognises Ronan, and as she works at a pro baseball team, has sworn off pro baseball players in order to avoid complications in her line of work. They eventually decide to have a vaca-fling, intending to never see each other again after they leave. This all seems to go according to plan… that is until months later, when he gets traded to the very same pro-team that she works for.
This is my first Julia Jarrett read and it certainly won’t be my last. It was such a fun and cute story that grabbed my attention from the very beginning. I really enjoyed their banter and they had such strong chemistry from the beginning. I especially loved how the story dove into the struggles that Ronan had in terms of trying to strike that balance between dating, but also wanting to not complicate his and his daughter’s lives because of it. He was so protective of his daughter and I loved it. Willow also had some personal things to overcome as her uncle owned the team, and she wanted to work hard and make sure that all her accomplishments were hers and not due to nepotism. She also had struggles with how dating a player on her team might be taken and perceived by the rest of the team and the media. I enjoyed seeing these issues explored and overcome. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I’m now sat, and ready to read the rest of the series.
If you love sports, workplace, single-parent, and close proximity romances, then pick this up. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
I listened to the audio of this book in combination with the eBook. Angelina Rocca and Connor Crais were fantastic narrators! They really brought the story and all the characters to life! It was a great seven and a half hours well spent!

Great Story & Narration🎧Captivating & Enjoyable!
This is a fantastic single dad workplace sports romance novel, one that captivates your attention and tugs at your heartstrings. Julia Jarrett is a gifted author, and I enjoyed her wonderful writing style and the fabulous characters and storylines she created. This first book of the “Vancouver Tridents” series is Ronan and Willow’s story, and what a story it is. The two met while on vacation, with Ronan spotting her at the airport on the way to Hawaii, and he felt an instant attraction to her. Willow works public relations for the Tridents, a professional baseball team, so she knew who Ronan was, a professional baseball player for another team, but he had not known who she and she did not share that information. With Willow’s boss is retiring soon, and her wanting that job, but only on her work merit, not because of nepotism and her relations, since her uncle runs the team. Because of this she is hesitant to get involved with another player, but seeing Ronan again at her hotel and then him coming to her rescue, it was hard to resist the undeniable chemistry between and she figures they would never see each other again, so giving into their passion for one another they had a memorable and steamy encounter. Except they see each other again, when he gets traded to the Tridents, and it surprised him to see her there and working for the team. Ronan was happy to see her again, but she did not share his sentiment because she saw him as a threat to everything she was trying to accomplish. Ronan respected her wishes, but he was not giving up on her. It was great to watch these two together and see them navigate a relationship that morphs into something more. He was amazing with his daughter and Willow was great with her, too. There is never a dull moment in this wonderfully plotted story, a story that has drama, a touch of angst, some charming moments, heartfelt emotions, and steamy romance. Julia Jarrett, thank you for this wonderful story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 Connor Crais and Angelina Rocca are absolutely fantastic and they did an amazing job bringing the characters to life, and humanizing them with voices that were fitting. I loved how they took each role and owned it, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters to sound. Rocca nailed it as Willow and was a natural in the role, grasping all aspects of her personality, her strength, determination and fierceness. Crais did the same in his role as Ronan, and was just as amazing, showcasing his personality perfectly. Both were fantastic voicing the secondary/side characters and performing their roles, including Rocket, Ronan’s little one. These two are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to.

Sweet & Swoony
I am an absolute sucker for a single dad romance, especially when their kiddo is a good part of the story.
I absolutely adored Ronan’s relationship with Peyton, he was such an incredible dad.
I really liked the chemistry between Ronan & Willow, the tension and angst was so hot. The banter and pull just made it so much hotter.
They are both great characters, who both work hard & play harder. Willow is such a strong independent woman, she is a total boss babe & also incredibly compassionate and caring.
Ronan is respectful, & an amazing dad, I love his relationship with his daughter and how important it is to him.
This was a super quick, easy read that had you feeling all the feels.
Connor Crais & Angelina Rocca did a fantastic job narrating this.

Single Daddy Gold
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Loved it! Would recommend, almost perfect and likely would reread. (AND I HAVE REREAD)
Ronan, prioritizing his daughter and baseball above all else, faces a major upheaval when he's traded to the same team as Willow Lawson, his unforgettable vacation fling. Despite their agreement for a no-strings-attached encounter on Hawaii's beaches, Ronan can't shake his desire for Willow. However, she has a strict rule against dating baseball players. When Ronan's agent secures him a lucrative deal with the Vancouver Tridents, he sees it as an opportunity for a fresh start. Yet, when Willow unexpectedly appears at his new team's office, Ronan questions whether they should break their rules for each other.
I devoured this book, it was so charming and the dynamic between Ronan and Willow was palpable. I loved the strength of Willow and her determination because I love powerful women. I loved her friendship with Tori and I loved getting moments of her. I loved how protective he was of his women which is so needed in a single dad romance. He gave Willow everything she wanted in life, when that man said "I want to be the only man to give her what she deserves. First, last, only." I was done for. I can't wait to see where the next books go.
DECEMBER REREAD VIA AUDIO
I adored this audiobook, the narrators did such a good job of bringing these characters alive and nailed how I heard them in my head. Connor is truly one of my favourite narrators and the audiobook experience definitely made it more enjoyable.
Thank you Julia for the early reader copy

It's a homerun!
Fun! Fun! Fun! That is what this listen is. Meet Willow and Ronan. They met in Hawaii and one night of passion. Willow didn't want any ties, she works in the industry and avoids relationships with baseball players. She works for her uncle, and figures there is no chance she will see Ronan again. Until he gets traded to the team she works for. Now she does what she can to hide what happened. Ronan is still smitten with her, months after their encounter, and when he finally convinces her things could work, it's like a veil is lifted, but now they are keeping it all a secret. How does it all turn out? Julia Jarrett has this story filled with love and laughter. I absolutely love Ronan's daughter. She had me smiling in every scene, as "Rocket" could run fast and draw amazingly. From skittles to spicy scenes, this book is a huge breath of fresh air and I loved it.
Connor Crais and Angelina Rocca are the storytellers and they are fantastic! I loved this combination as they have amazing chemistry and knew how to portray these characters perfectly. Ronan is a sweetie, warm and loving, impossible not to love and Crais dove in head first bringing the father, player and lover alive. Rocca came in with the hesitancy, the need to prove her worth and the love she can't hide. It's all there in their voices as the story comes alive.

A fabulous baseball romance ⚾️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I first read this in KU last year, and absolutely adored it, and the 2 also excellent books that have followed so far. Baseball Romances are my favourite of the Sports Romance genre, and woefully underrepresented, against the vast number of Hockey and Football options.
I loved Ronan & Willow's story when I read it last year, so I was thrilled to learn the series was coming to audio, and this has absolutely not disappointed.
Both Narrators do a fantastic job bringing the excellent writing to life. Connor Crais makes a particularly swoony Ronan, and softens his accent to sound convincingly Canadian.
I will definitely listen to this book again, and am very excited for the rest of the series to be turned into audiobooks, including the 2 books that are due for release this year. Both of which I'm sure will be just as enjoyable as the first 3 in the series!! ❤️⚾️❤️⚾️❤️

Stand alone spin off
This is the first book I've listened to by Julia Jarrett. I'm guessing this is a spin off series as there seemed to be other couples mentioned, however, as far as I know, this book starts with Willow meeting Ronan for the first time. It can definitely be listened to as a stand alone. While it's a sports romance, the story is almost entirely off the field.
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Connor Crais and Angelina Rocca. They both did a great job with the narration.
I received a copy of the audiobook at my request, and the opinions here are my own.
