About this listen

Let me tell the story of how I fell in love with a woman who had no idea that we were even dating. The ridiculousness started when she stole my beer, and trust me, my grumpy self doesn’t normally share. But somehow, Avery Wilson is the exception to every one of my many rules.

Unfortunately, I’m not hers.

Not only is she the daughter of the Rev’s coach who hates me, she’s also sworn off dating for the year.

Little does she know we’ve been doing just that. Sure, she says I’m her friend when we watch romcoms or spend holidays together, but I’m just biding my time until the year is up.

With her father against me, and a line of men interested in dating her, once she finds out my true intentions, will we survive the fallout?

Author Note: The Fall Out is book one of the Boston Revs Three Outs Series. It is a stand-alone baseball romcom that starts with a one-night stand with the coach's daughter. This friends-to-lovers grumpy sunshine romance will guarantee you tons of fun banter and swoony moments between the hot-headed baseball pitcher and the animal-loving heroine. Add in some laughs with the Revs team and an adorable pet puffin and it is sure to be fun for all.

Perfect Beginning

I read this book last year, but when the audio came out, I just had to listen to it, and I was not disappointed. The narrators for Chris and Avery were perfect, with Connor being the perfect level of 'grump' to Rose's sunshine.

Knowing that Avery's taking that year off dating, Chris is brilliantly sneaky, because he shows her exactly how she should be treated from when they start hanging out more. He makes certain that she has the drinks she likes, he orders her food to make certain that she's eaten when he's not there, he's always early to spend time with her and lets her choose what they're going to watch. And listening to all of that just made me fall for him even more.

And then you have Avery, who doesn't pick up on what everyone else is seeing, but when she does, Rose nails that performance. The moments of her worrying that Chris isn't interested felt so much more real, as I heard that worry come through her words.

Given that this is the first in this series, I can't wait to listen to the rest, and fall in love all over again with each of them.

Excellent narration

I listened to the audio version of The Fall Out and I'm certain that the performances by the very talented Connor Crais & Rose Dioro made the story more fun and entertaining. They made a great team for the narration and kept my attention throughout the story. While The Fall Out starts with a night together between Christian and Avery, it's still very much a slow burn story because Avery decides to take a year off from dating after their night together. I appreciated the patience that Christian showed toward Avery and how he valued their relationship even just as friends. He is definitely not a perfect character, but he started to make an effort during the story (still has more to go). While there was a little miscommunication, I liked that the characters learned from it. I've noticed that when I listen to a story, that I have a more positive impression of flawed characters. Audio performances can bring an additional dimension to enhance the characters and the story.

I received this audiobook at my request, and the opinions here are my own.

Absolutely adored this book! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I first read this in KU, and loved it so much then. However, listening to a book being performed by skilled narrators is absolutely my first love, so I was delighted when I learned it was to be released in audio, and have been eagerly awaiting release.
It absolutely did not disappoint!! Lots of humour, lots of Romance and spice too. Superb writing and brilliant narration make this book one that I will definitely listen to again and again.
I'm already excited for the rest of this Fab series to be turned into audiobooks ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Friends to lovers perfection!!

Jenni Bara really knows how to write a friends to lovers book!!!

Friends to lovers is not one of my favourite tropes but Jenni really makes me fall in love with every part of the story.

Avery and Christian met at a bar and get to know each other but then she find outs he the new member of the Boston Revs that her dad is coach for and his one rule is no dating the players.

I previously read this book when it first came out and fell in love. Soon as I had finished I was excited to experience the audio.

This audio is narrated in DUET by Connor Crais & Rose Dioro this honestly was perfectly casted.

Connor brought Christian grumpiness for everyone and softness for his blondie. Connor had to voice all the team aswell and each voice was exactly how I imagined them to sound.

Rose voice has such a softness that it was so well matched to Averys character. Her voices for each side character was so good and I could tell which character was talking!! She also brought the emotion and fieryness that is Avery.

Big thank you to HCB for the ALC.

4.5 Stars!

Forbidden, slow burn, friends-to-lovers goodness! Love!

After a series of bad relationships, Avery decides to take a year-long break from dating. She chooses to do this not only to have some respite from bad men but to also get to know herself better; to be herself, not just what the men she is dating want her to be. And also, to figure out what she really wants in a man. She hopes this will all help her choose better men in the future. One night out, (after declaring this one-year dating break), she is out with her 2 besties, and there she meets Christian. Avery’s friends don’t think she needs a whole year dating break. Rather, they think she just needs a one-night stand to get over her most recent breakup.

Meanwhile, Christian is set to start his first year pitching with a new team. He is out with some friends when he meets Avery. They instantly have a connection. Avery is not really feeling her friends’ plans for her to have a one-night stand. That is until she meets Chris. Their connection is so strong that she decides to go home with him. They have a great night until Chris’ roommate lets slip what he does for a living (that he plays for the Revs) and she flees. When Chris wakes up, she is obviously gone, but he feels so strongly about their connection that he spends 2 months looking for her. He has no success until she walks onto the field during one of his games to help an injured bird. There he finds out that she is his new coach’s daughter. Not just any coach, but a coach that he doesn’t get on with.

Woow this was soo cute to read/listen to. I loved the forbidden aspect of their relationship because not only does Chris have to stay away from Avery because she is his coach’s daughter, but the fact that he and his coach did not like each other added an extra level of forbidden-ness and complication because his coach could really make his time at the Revs more difficult if he were to find out about them. Another complication was the fact that she was taking a year’s break from dating. That forced him to actually get to know her first as a friend. The progression of their friendship was just chef’s kiss! 🤌💋

Finally, the way he treated her, making sure she knew what she deserved and should expect from men was just absolutely swoon-worthy! He really paid attention to everything about her. He made sure she always had her favourite drink/meals, having them delivered/brought to her whenever she needed them. Her favourite types of movies? He made sure whenever they had movie nights, they were watching them. He never had her waiting on him; he made sure he was always early for their plans. He even set up a foundation for her birds, to keep the puffin and to add more, when he saw how sad moving birds were. He truly was book/IRL boyfriend goals! 💕 Overall, this was a solid read that I highly recommend!

This was the first book by Jenni Bara that I read and I really enjoyed it. I’m excited now to dive into the rest of this series.

Connor Crais and Rose Dioro were the perfect duo to narrate this. Crais really perfected the portrayal of the grumpy, but lowkey sweet nature of Chris. And Dioro was amazing as the sunshiny and bubbly, but slightly tentative personality of Avery. Their narration was delightful to listen to.

A cracking series opener!

The Fall Out, the first installment in the Boston Revs Three Outs Series, is a captivating standalone baseball romcom that delivers a whirlwind of emotions and laughter. Christian, the
Boston Revs' new pitcher, finds himself in an unexpected dilemma after a flirty, impulsive
encounter with Avery—a passionate avian veterinarian and, unbeknownst to him at first, the
coach's daughter. The twist of fate that reveals her identity adds a layer of complexity as Avery
navigates the strict no-dating rule imposed by her father. Chris, known for his fiery on-field
persona and meticulous germaphobe tendencies, reveals a softer, more considerate side
through his acts of service—a love language that endears him to Avery. Their slow-burn
romance, starting from a one-night stand and evolving into a profound connection, is enriched
by their genuine friendship and mutual respect for one another’s passions. The story is further
enlivened by injured puffin, Puff, whose presence is not only the catalyst for their reunion but
also reinforces their bond. With vibrant teammates and a vivid sports backdrop, this tale
promises engaging subplots and heartwarming moments, leaving readers eager for more stories
from the Boston Revs team.
The audiobook performed by Connor Crais and Rose Dioro is a truly remarkable experience,
bringing the characters of Christian and Avery to life with their expressive and nuanced
portrayals. Crais captures Christian's introspective nature and emotional depth, infusing his
performance with genuine emotion that resonates with listeners. Meanwhile, Dioro embodies
Avery's bright and optimistic nature, using a lively and cheerful tone that perfectly complements
her character's essence. During pivotal moments, such as Avery comforting Christian through a
challenging family situation, Rose masterfully adjusts her tone to convey tenderness and
empathy. Additionally, both narrators skilfully differentiate the side characters with distinct
voices, adding layers to the storytelling. This audiobook is a captivating listen, and I
wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking an engaging and immersive audio experience.

Funny and sweet

Funny and sweet

Avery and Christian spend one amazing night together, but when she finds out what he does, it sends her running.

When they meet again Avery has decided she needs time to find out what she really wants and takes a year off dating. Christian just wants to be close to her, so if friendship is the only thing she on offer he’ll take it for now.

I loved watching their friendship grow and how each of them learned more about themselves and each other.

This was definitely a bit of a different read. Lust immediately and then a year of simmer heat that became so much more.

Christian was so focused, grumpy, loyal and really a big softie.Avery was sweet, dedicated and loving. They definitely make a perfect combination.

I loved the addition of the forbidden relationship (her Dad’s his Coach) and Puff was so cute and a great addition to the story.

I was listening to the end of this book in the car with a big smile on my face, anyone who saw me must have thought I was a looney.

Another lovely story by one of my one click authors!

I really liked the dual narration, both the narrators matched their characters well and added to the enjoyment of the book.
