Summary
New York Times best-selling novelist Nora Roberts captivates millions of fans with her provocative blend of scorching passion and chilling suspense. With Carnal Innocence, she creates a gripping tale of murder, infatuation, and true love in a small southern town. After beautiful concert violinist Caroline Waverly breaks up with her conductor and lover Luis, she escapes to her late grandmother’s home in Innocence, Mississippi. Instead of peace and tranquility, however, she finds the town torn with suspicion over two brutal murders. When she discovers a third victim in the murky waters behind her house, she turns to her dangerously handsome neighbor, Tucker Longstreet, for protection. But Tucker has a reputation for breaking hearts - even worse, the police count him their number one suspect.
You’ll want to lean back in your easy chair and let Nora Robert’s steamy prose and Tom Stechschulte’s stirring interpretation transport you to Innocence where the nights are filled with promise and secrets are hard to keep.

Not a bad one
I liked it as it was easy listening but I hated Caroline’s voice which stopped me enjoying it as much as I could

Early Nora at her best!
I've listened to this book numerous times. The narrator brings it to life and the twist at the end still surprises me every time.
It displays it's age a little, with a lot of smoking and lack of mobile phones, but is still really enjoyable.

Fantastic narrator.
As a bon-American, I found the accent truly horrendously difficult to understand at first., so it was not relaxing. Once, I became accustomed to the dialect, the book be became really interesting- but the dramatic narration made a fairly trite book fascinating.

Excellent, Entertaining, Enthralling, Exciting
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would and I have, to several of my friends, because it was such a good read from start to finish (even though I actually listened to the audio version). I loved the characters and the tension that was present throughout the whole story. I went into smug mode at one point as I thought I knew who the murderer was but I was completely wrong....very good twist.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I had several so it is hard to say, they were all good....even the baddies!
Have you listened to any of Tom Stechschulte’s other performances? How does this one compare?
I have and I absolutely love him as a narrator, there are a good few out there that could take a lot of lessons from his performances. He gives every character their own personality with his differing voices and accents....brilliant performance by him, as always.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
If I could have, I would have....sadly, I also have a life and have to let that interfere every now and then!!
Any additional comments?
I adore Nora Roberts writing and am forever grateful that she is such a prolific author as I never tire of reading her stories. I have read several of her trilogies and individual books and have enjoyed every one of them. The only thing that spoilt one for me was the narrator but I have noticed that she has never been used on any of the other of Nora Roberts audio versions so, I guess I wasn't the only one with that opinion. I have recommended Nora to all of my bookworm friends and relatives as there is bound to be a story for every one of them.

Easy listening..
I wanted something that was going to keep my attention without requiring too much effort / concentration and this book more than met the brief. Good storyline, excellent twist – I was sure I had identified the culprit at the beginning; but I was wrong and did not guess until it was revealed at the end.. a little romance, a touch of suspense and a mystery – what more can you ask for. What made this book complete was that by pure chance the movie was aired on sky as I was reading it – so finished the book and watched the movie.. brill

Great story wonderfully told with accents
Many characters well rounded, fascinating storyline keeping us guessing. I loved the accents used to tell it, too.

Love the twist at the end
I really liked this book, yet another one of Nora Roberts books to not disappoint. Really didn’t expect the twist at the end as my head couldn’t remember who was left who committed the murders. Brilliant !

A terrific story
I have read and listened to several Nora Roberts books and think that this is the best one yet. The Longstreet family were the big guns in the small town of Innocence, Mississippi. Dwayne, the eldest, sees life through the bottom of a bottle, his sister Josie, dissatisfied with her life, uses her promiscuity to pass the time whilst Tucker, the youngest son, is goodnatured but idle. The vicious killing of several young local women and the arrival in town of Caroline, a young concert violinist, fleeing from her dominating mother and an unhappy love affair, combine to make him sit up and start taking notice. There is horror, mystery, romance and quite a bit of humour in the tale that follows and a very big plus is the excellent narration by Tom Stechschulte.
