About this listen
Agnes Lockwood returns to Tyneside, only to stumble across another dead body. On her first visit, she helped the police solve a murder and gained quite the reputation as an amateur sleuth. Now, she is simply looking forward to meeting again with Alan Johnson, a DCI with the Newcastle police force.
She is hoping their relationship will continue to blossom, but on her first day back in the city, she gets caught up in another murder. And this time, her intrusion into the police investigation pushes Alan Johnson’s patience to the very limit.
Note: This is a stand-alone mystery that can be enjoyed even if you haven't listened to the other books in the series.

Death on Tyneside.
This second Agnes Lockwood Mystery is like the previous book in the series an addictive listen. It's like meeting up with old friends. Once again Agnes is drawn into a murder investigation and her interfering ways mean she endangers both herself and the investigation at times. Why her on off boyfriend Alan put's up with her I don't know. LOL! Deborah Balms narration is excellent bring all the characters to life. Highly recommended.
I was kindly given a copy of the book and leave this honest review.

Agnes gets on my nerves.
Eileen Thornton penmanship is really good including her books and stories but the character Agnes, a middle age woman keeps breaking the law thinking that she is above it, really gets on my nerves by using her first love, a DCI Police man do whatever she wants knowing that he will let her get away with anything.
And every smart lawyer can get his customer off because the case is tainted from the beginning because of Agnes meddling into it without a license & the DCI Officer would have been let go or at least punished for letting her because of his involvement with her.
Still a very good & enjoyable
story.
The narration by Deborah Balm was done beautifully for each of the characters in this story.
My recommendations !!!
Oded Ostfeld.

Brilliant.
I really love this series. The mystery is excellent with plenty of suspenseful moments. I really enjoy the subtle romantic angle as the two main characters are adorable together. Agnes is a wonderful character. I love that she enjoys a nice glass of wine almost as much as she enjoys a good murder investigation.
A clever mystery with a great cast of characters.

Enjoyed the story narration great
Second one of Eileen Thornton's books. I would describe them as enjoyable, gentle murder mystery. Agnes is a bit of a modern day Marple. Nice to meet up again with characters from the first book.
The narrator manages to convey each person with her slightly different dialect and tones. She comes back time after time seamlessly from one character to another. Her voice is really very nice to listen to. She brings each character to life.
I would recommend this book and definitely more by this narrator.
